I would suggest taking a good read of the mach manual it covers a lot of issues.

Your Z issue could be a setup problem in the config section concerning the safez setup.

Mach does most of the standard Gcodes . You can download a copy of the Mach manual for a general listing.

Mach does parametric Gcode ( variables)  BUT it does not do conditional gcode (If When Do while,etc)

Mach also has Brains (simple ladder logic) and can run a Macropump( VB loop running at 10hz).

ALSO I don't recall any function that can tell you the current direction of movement as MACH does not run in realtime, it runs a buffered system for the Gcode side.

6693
Dave I think what you are needing is one of the things that should be done from the CAM side.

 I don't know of any easy way to do what you need from Mach

The IJ mode can be set from the config page OR best is to use the proper GCODE in the preamble of the program. You may want to setup your cam to output the correct mode.

AND never  press stop then cycle start again. When you press stop mach will dump all the modal commands and may lose position

IF you want to stop and then resume USE Feedhold and  the machine will come to  safe stop,  then to resume you can push cycle start.

IF you have to STOP mid program to check something then use FH until mach stops motion THEN use STOP.  Record the line number you stopped at.
Then USE run from here to reset all the modal values. NOW follow the promts to return to work.  NOW mach nows where it is and how it is to proceed to finish where it left off.

You may want to download the Mach Manual and read up on the Gcode commands.

DID you update the post before using it?

Loading your code here LOOKS good, it show a circular pocket.

IS this lathe , mill, plasma ???

Do you use subs ?

There are many ways to do it. Some easier than others

You basically have 2 choices for monitoring mach functions. The macropump or the brains.

The macropump has more functionality but the brains are faster and take up less cpu time.

Something to consider, last I heard GECKO was offerering to BUY BACK old g100s. You may want to consider this option and then replace it with a modern SmoothStepper that is supported.

Just a thought

DID you put in the offsets here?

--Scriber X,Y,Z offsets
   scriberX = -4.803
   scriberY = -.250
   scriberZ = 2.

If those are the correct offsets DID you use a tool# greater than 100 ?? The post will only add the offset values IF the tool#>100 SO IT HAS TO BE AT LEAST 101 or greater.

THe M8 delay(;-) HUM This is the section that deals with that part, but I am not fluent in SC post speak. You may have to ask that on the Sheetcam forum. ALSO it depends on how you have the G4 setup,as sec or Msec??

function OnPenDown()
   if(tool > 100) then
      post.Text(" M08\n")
      return
   end

VB and the development of wizards / Re: how to use macropump

(;-) That makes 2 of us that really don't have a clue. I was told by Art that it was 10hz BUT he never was clear how it handled a delayed macro. In some functions you have to add a tremendous amount of wait states just to make it happy and that time is well over the 10hz rate.

I have seen evidence that it cycles at 10 hz when it can AND waits on a completed cycle such as while do.  AND I have seen it skip over code and store it????.

I have a feeling it just cycles as fast as it can(code dependant) up to 10hz.

SO it is a DARN good question as to HOW it actuallly works (;-) IF you ever get a clear answer please let us know.
