HIYA STEVE, try this, talk to CamBam and show them your toys and explain how you do show and tell all over the world (WWW) and see if they will give you an OPEN seat for your show and tell work with cambam as your CAM .

Justa thought, mach has a feature that prevents the Gcode from running if a safety input is active(door open)

I would  use a brain to

If spindle is active AND waittimer for 3secs and IF input from VFD is NOT active then apply  Mach safety to prevent the machine from running code.

That would stop the Gcode from running IF the M3/M4 was active AND after 3 secs the VFD does not give the OK signal to move

I would also map the function on out to a BIG yellow LED to show the state of the control for trouble shooting down the road.  It would be like the out of lube function we use to stop the machine function if the lube is LOW. Hard to remember without that LED flashing at ya

There are 2 macros involved with M6 M6start and M6end. But as Hood said Check your SafeZ values first sounds like a combo of safeZ setting and cycling the tool offset because it does end up where it is suppose to yes?

Hood has it right, same here at every job end return the machine to it's starting point in both position AND modal values.  The rule here is leave it like you found it.

As to the machine setup and control codes YOU are the only one that knows how it works VB or Brain wise.(;-)

Just for the record the G31 works with XYZ&A (;-) Mach will also post all 4 axis to the points file with and without axis letters

Heck the Gcode  is the easy part you only have to do it once then use that on every lobe.

Ed is right it doesn't matter how you do it as long as "you do it" and enjoy it.  AND you are doing a FINE JOB.

But if you ever get the chance to play with a 4th axis in CNC you may throw rocks at the lathe method(;-) It can do all the work on the crank or  cam in one setup while you sit back and watch and drink iced tea (or beer). It might seem like MORE work at first but IF you have to build a second one. HUM load blank, load program push start button, drink iced tea.
