General Mach Discussion / Re: how to bore 90 degrees
« on: September 20, 2010, 04:59:01 PM »
Nope not at all, Anything is possible given enough time and talent(;-).

BUT mains bores must remain in perfect alignment the entire length of the block, same with cam bores and then they must align with each other AND be spaced for gear/chain spacing.

Get the bore out of alignment in any of the 4 planes and any of the 4 bores and RUT ROW.

I have never done it OR seen it done without a boring bar fixture, but that does not mean it can't be done. JUST very time extensive on setup.

Just a thought, (;-)TP

Look in the Mach Manual under Gcode parameters/variables.

IF you are trying to rebore the main bearing bores you need to build a reamer/boring bar to do it in the block with the rest of the mains to hold it straight. It can be cut by hand power if needed.

Basically a long shaft to extend the length of the mains. Then cut in a cutter bit slot to hold a bit. We cut VW cases like that for years. You can do the cam bores the same way.

I would HATE to try and align the machine to a set of main bores as they ALL have to be exact and inline as a SET it woul dbe VERY hard to do them one at a time and still have perfect alignment.

I think you will need to BORE the hole for accuracy .

SO you need to determene how you are going to mount the part compared to the axis. Will you be inline to the X axis or Y axis with the boring bar. That will set your Plane as either XZ or YZ. Next figure out if you are in the Positve side or neg side of the plane, left or right of zero.

Then you would get every thing set and select G18 0r G19 plane    then center the hole and use a boring canned cycle just like you would do in a vertical mode.

NOW the canned cycle is only good in the POSITVE side of the plane SO IF you find yourself on the NEG side you need to invert the axis by changing the scale from +1.000 to -1.000.

It is just a little strange using different axis in the canned cycle call NAD if you invert teh axis the depth call will be backwards

Sample   G81 Z0.000 Y0.000 X1.000 R0.000 F3      THE ZY is the hole position and the X will be the depth.

It would go to Y0Z0 and X0.000 then slow feed down into the hole to depth then retract back to X0.000

Hope that helps, Let me know if you need more info.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Foam cutter with 4 independent of each other?
« on: September 19, 2010, 05:36:28 PM »
oK I played around with the concept a little and think this one is a no go.  While you can do independant axis in linear mode if you can do the Gcoding. But you don't end up with anything that you can't do normally. AND you cannot do independant arc or circle moves that I can figure out.

BUT that is just my opinion , You mileage may vary(;-) TP

The tp1 should be a 5 wire setup???  Term 4 and 5 should be the contact wires. There should also be a shield wire and 2 LED leads. THE 4/5 wires SHOULD be isolated from the case. Those are the ones you need to use. AND they are noramlly closed contacts.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

AH one of MACH's mysteries (;-)  Try hooking it back up again. How many wires??? 2

OK,  I have never seen the G31 NOT run on the DROs except what is listed above but anything is possible.

Have you tried to reload MACH?  Possible corrupt file?    Ver .040 works ok here.

OK you do have 6 axis to play with AND I can see a way to do MOST of what you want BUT it would take some work to verify it to be true in real time

Each side of the Primary axis CAN be an independant axis Such as X= XB  Y=YC  and then A as a rotary?? and a spare Z

BUT I don't think MACH can  control them in multiple planes at the same time. You would have to work one plane at a time.

Take a cone one end would have to be at the focal point of the cone while the other axis moved in a circle. You could NOT cut both circles of a trunicated cone at the same time(2 planes).

Interesting project, (;-) TP

Is this a licensed version or the DEMO version???

DOES the dro show movement but the machine does not move?

SO there are NO messages at the status bar after you type in G31 X1 F10 ??

WHat version of mach3??

Are you using the standard screenset??
