Darc I was wrong it will do the same with G42. I have banged on it for several days now AND see the problem but I can't find any way around it as is.

The problem as I see it is that MACH is NOT carrying over the math beyond the first loop in a sub, It seems to start all over again each loop. If you run it slow and single step it you can see the problem. BUT I cannot figure a way around the problem and I have tried it 39 ways to sunday so far.

Even tried each loop being a separate function of G41/G40 same problem.

Also tried it AS a continuous SPIRAL for each loop , Same thing

The parameteric side is NOT a problem tried it with and without same thing

I can Write code that will do the job but NOT inc parametric with SUBS and G41/42.

I don't KNOW if the NEW Comp code will solve the problem. If I can find the test version I will give it a whirl to see.

Funny , the first loop through every thing works as expected. Then in the middle of the second loop it all goes to heck.

HUM yep missed a M99 but the funny parts is HERE mach does not care it runs the same with or without the M99. I t should have thrown an error (sub call with no return)

Another strange thing is even thought the Z variable is 0.100 per step Mach moves 0.127.  Somewhere mach is adding the .027. The internal Variable value =0.100 based on the var monitor.

I use the % as a separator so when mach loads up without spaces you can still find the break easy.

Graham The current version works FINE after I remembered to clear the G52 from previous work(;-)  OLD BAD HABIT

IF it works with this test it should work with anything.

Here is a Play test file.  Note the use of the tool: on the Toolpath screen to count parts per setup NOTE: this will not work IF you use tool changes for the obvious reasons.

Graham I have not been able to get a G41 to work with subs AND USING the G52 in a long time. Perhaps you could post a simple version as an example. SUBS worked fine but not the combination of sub and G52s.

I have been practicing hand coding to stay sharp with it.  Also the new Comp code does not use arcs  as a leadin leadout.  SO it is a little more tricky to hand code.

There have been a few strange things reported with the G41 that work fine in G42 mode.

I thought anti dive was to keep Mach from diving into a hole or span cause by the rise in arc voltage as it crosses the gap.

Could be wrong but that is how it seems to work here.  Otherwise IF you had a long dwell on start the head would try to dive into the hole to chase the arc voltage. Same if you crossed a span or gap in the metal

If I were doing this I would start in the center of the shape. Then apply the G41 as a leadin to the midpoint of the rh flat. Then move up and then throught the arc down the LH flate then arc then from the beginning of the next straight I would sink the Z to the next depth then continue looping until I reached the target Z depth. After the target depth is reached and when you have reached the end point cancel with G40 and do a leadout the same way you came in.

How you apply the step down depends on you. I would use a variable for z and then loop the shape in a SUB call and apply the step depth at the end of each loop until target depth was met.

Darc it seems to be a G41 bug. IF you program the part in the opposite direction of rotation  AND use a G42 in place of the g41 it seems to work ok.
