There is no continous infinite rotation of A axis like you would with a lathe spindle.  You must Set as stated then program a rotation. You can program more than one rotation if set to rollover by stating the number of degreees of rotation needed  say 3600 deg(10 turns). Also it cannot be a seperate move it must be part of a coordinated axis move A/Y/Z  or A/X/Z

Normally just hitting a rezero button while running a program is NOT a good idea. It is best to run a ROUTINE to do the official offsetting of the tool even IF you do it manually. Jogg to a reference point touch off then run an offset routine to let mach know exactly what you are needing to do.

Also check the tool table to make sure there is NOT an offset present for the tool # you are using. IF it is you are double dipping on the offsetting.

You can also setup a tool change position so that mach will jogg to that location every tool change. Check the manual.

iF it were a limit switch activating it would stop mach as a limit trip. Check the mach driver test and look for something causing a pause in mach.

yOu are correct, it does not work . Never did. You should have gotten a message stating that safe Z does not work in Coor Rotation. There are other things that don't work with G68 as well. IT would be perfect for plasma cutting BUT a major function like RefZ does not work when rotated. Most cutters use the RefZ to find the TOM.

Now along with SafeZ and RefZ I can,t figure what it has to do with G68 THe Z is NOT rotated just X/Y. I guess Art just wanted to make it simple to develope. Shame thought it does limit its use.


NOW with all that said what did that have to do with you crashing the tool.  An old saying in CNC maching is IF you programmed yourself into the box you need to program yourself back out of the box BEFORE your next move(;-) 

Been there before and that is why I never use the safeZ it helps you develope some BAD habits in programming AND will crash a few tools all on its own from time to time.

I just tested with arcs and circles with G68. What was it that was not working right?? Everything looked ok here.
