Just a side note IF you create the files as a M1030 macro it will auto run the macro at the end of the Gcode file after the M30. That way  you dont  have to remember to add the macro call at the end of each file.

Depends on what type home sensing solution you used on the Z axis. The safest way I have found is to create a fast probe solution and KEEP the head well above the problem height when in rapid movement.

Stay at your safe +5 inch height then do a rapid probe down to find the surface then raise .5 inch above that point and reprobe in slow mode for a more accurate height setting.

Trying to probe while in XY rapid can work but also can tear off your torch head if it strikes a riser in the plate to be cut and catches the torch head.

Now IF you are using an independant height sensor this can work IF the sensor is lowered to a height that is lower than the torch head then retracted when done. You would use a G31 probe move to rapid to a new start position. You will have to set up the Cam post to input the code correctly.

Been there done all of that. Those little fiberglass sleeves that break to protect the head are $90 each.

IF you are just stepping down throught the sub without it being called you WILL get that message beacuse mach see the sub end without a return call to the main program.

You will also find that mach cannot do an arc in the G19/19 planes IF it is offset from the parent plane in a radial fashion. Such as cutting a bowl using only G17 arcs and rotating around the centerpoint with the arcs to form the bowl.  It would require a 3rd operator to define the arc through the 3 planes at the same time.

But that is just the way it has always been, so nothing new. You just have to learn to work around it.

It appears the Copy Cat does not allow arcs ouside of the G17 plane(XY) even thought it will produce a spiral (;-)

Most CAms use a standard point to represent a drill point. Just insert a point where you want the hole.

The person working on it planned to do a scan probe of the surface then take those points and interpolate his Gcode file to compensate for the irregularities via software and create a new gcode file to do the cutting.
