General Mach Discussion / Re: 3D probing
« on: June 17, 2011, 02:55:23 PM »
You do realise that in 3d probing the probe tip diameter is errelivant to  the process.  (;-)

The plugin does not work tight with the lastest versions of mach. you would have to go back to an earlier version so I am told.

Fred it was not just me YOU are the MAN. (;-) You ORIGINATED teh idea and kept at it until you worked it out. I just bumped you back on track a couple of times.

NOW could you write a little summary of what ALL you did to make it all work THEN post it HERE so if people do a search they can find the info

Great JOb, (;-) TP

Could you post the section of code that it ignored.I do thread milling all the time and use helix with arcs without a problem.

The problem is your trying to make an accurate Z motion with an air cylinder and a mechanism. I don't think that is ever going to happen.

I use a scribe BUT it is mounted on the Z slide and lowered into position when needed. THEN I have full ZXY control over it with Gcode. NO problems with timing issues trying to NOT mess up a decent engraving.

You will not get the precision timing control on your air cylinder control from a VB macro it will be as bad or worse than the G4 to control.

But if you determend to use what you have do as TWEAKIE suggested use the DIR pulse from a phantom axis to control the Solenoid. IT is extremely accurate and precise in it time slices.

Modbus / Re: Remote USB display with Modbus

Great all you have to do now is adjust the spaces at the end of each line to make it wrap to the proper starting spot.  ADD more spcaes between the "     " you do it with the space bar.  Iwas thinking you had a 4x16 dispaly it is 4x20 so add 4 spaces to each "     "

HIYA FRED,   YEP that is the one BUT less make a slight mod and send this. I removed the comma between the ?x and ?y

XV = "X: " & Format (Getdro(0) , "+000.0000;-000.0000") & "    "
YV = "Y: " & Format (Getdro(1) , "+000.0000;-000.0000") & "    "
ZV = "Z: " & Format (Getdro(2) , "+000.0000;-000.0000") & "    "
AV = "A: " & Format (Getdro(3) , "+000.0000;-000.0000") & "    "
MS = "?Y0?X0"
SendSerial "" &MS &XV &YV &ZV &AV

MACH Understands a helix BUT not a spiral.  Mach can do GREAT threadmilling using helix and can do good threadmilling with line segments IF you have enough line segments per thread to make it look good.

Can you turn on arcs in helix and leave spirals to lines?

Normally the POST processor does the Gcode writting. What Post are you using. A Mach specific POST should know not to produce spirals.

General Mach Discussion / Re: VFD and motor voltages
« on: June 16, 2011, 12:10:08 PM »
LOOK at the suggested MANF hookup they will SHOW the recommended placement of recommended components. Normally you only hook up single phase to single phase supplies(;-)  IF you hook single phase to a 3 phase source you best know what you are working with. there are MANY variables to content with. SOme can kill you when you are not looking. SOme will just let the magic SMOKE out of your controls.

Be safe, IF you do not know it for a FACT consult a trained and qualified electrician. (;-) TP

General Mach Discussion / Re: VFD and motor voltages

YOu really need to get the Y or delta out of the thought process.  You have 3 leads abc you do not have a neutral in most cases(never seen one here).  HOW the motor was WOUND is irrelevant to your process.

The hook up is abc  voltage is measured phase to phase. A voltage check phase to GRND is useless info in the case of the motor performance. You have to match the VFD output to the motor input requirement.

Keep it in that thought process and you are good to go.

Just a thought(;-)TP

iF you want extreme time base action use the motor pulse functions to drive YOUR function THESE are extremely accurate in time slices. BUT then again they are not CREATED in real time just output in realtime.

Take for example the LASER guys to precisely control the on/off of the laser they have to use the direction pulse of an axis to control the laser. that is the only thing fast and precise enough to do the job in MACH. Otherwise the axillary controls such as spindle on/off have a slight built in dwell. And for a laser that is not fast enought for precise control
