General Mach Discussion / Re: Z axis help
« on: August 01, 2011, 04:25:03 PM »
(;-) Machine Zero can be anywhere and in many cases it is NOT at teh end of an axis it can be in the middle. It is not tied directly to home(G28) as HOME can be anywhere as well. HOME(G28) is just referenced off of Machine zero.

The only direct link to machine Zero is the G30 that will take you to Machine Zero in MACH3 gcode.

The Machine coordbase is there so Mach knows where it is at in relation to ANY offset that you may require. Once set the OP cannot change any value the most they can do is Zero it another location(not always a good idea)

BUT don't let that confuse you(;-) Yea Right. Just set up the machine as you want it to be  and sling some chips. Once set up it will always behave as you set it up. If you find out you don't lke it that way, simple change it(;-) that is what config and setup is all about.

If you want it to conform to the perceived standard do so(;-) or not(;-) your choice.

BUT if you set it up weird so you are the only one that can understand it THEN only you may be able to understand it. Catch 22 The rest of us may just say HUH??????

Mach3 under Vista / Re: Win7 32 Bit W/PCI PP card
« on: August 01, 2011, 04:08:51 PM »
The MEsa cards could be the next holy grail. They sure work well with the OTHER controller. They have a programable chip just like the SS but have a lot more onboard features I believe.

The 5i20 has a TON of I/0 all useable by mach with the new driver(;-) and it may free up a BUNCH of overhead for windows by letting the card do the timing.

PCI is hard to beat for reliability and function.

Mach3 under Vista / Re: Win7 32 Bit W/PCI PP card

Guys here is an interesting thought about Windows and 64 bit mode and the LPT version. We all know it won't work, BUT art created a new driver to be used with the MESA 5i20 card that moves al the timing issues from Windows to the Mesa card. (;-)

Seeing how windows would no longer be in charge of timing issues 64 bit mode may run just fine in mach with that driver combo.

Mesa is also coming out wiht a new PCI card (5i25) and plugin board for stepper/analog servo systems) to replace the LPTports it has a TON of bells and whistles for CNC and is pin compatible with the current LPT port output. So it should be plug and play into most BOBs used today.

DOn't know about the driver for that yet BUT it seems to reason that the mesa driver would drive the new card OR a driver is on the way for it???

Just some intersting thoughts on moving forward with the LPTversions and 64 bit computing. It would sure make setting up NEW computers easier/cheaper ???

General Mach Discussion / Re: Moving off Limit switch

HIYA HHR, you really need to start your own new thread for these questions(;-) Not many people will notice you hidden at the end of this one.

Just a thought,(;-) TP

On second thought dyno testing can be very hard on race engines . The fact that it will run and SOUND sweet is enough satisfaction.

Sorry but the race engine builder popped out for a moment, (;-) TP

(;-) I already built one for a micro motor ( RC airplanes).  All it is is a disc mounted on an axle. 1 sensor to look at rpms and software to calcultate how fast the engine can accellerate the wheel up to a set rpm level.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

General Mach Discussion / Re: G31 Probe problem

HIYA DAVE, That is not a problem. Get it when you can so we can maybe help you get this thing to work properly. Plasma cutting is a really FUN process to create metal art and such.

It does not matter who may be right or wrong or not as long as we get you cutting like it should.

HIYA DAVE, Could you post your version of the macro used? Maybe we can find something to help your situation.

Steve the next thing you need to build is an inertia DYNOMOETER to measure the ouput of that beast.

Good Job,

NOw  Don' take what I said WRONG as the Mach CB function is a VERY powerful tool I have macros that write a complete ready to run Gcode  file that is over 900,000 lines long based on input parameters from the operator AND it only takes about 5secs to do so AND then loads that Gcode program into MACH and is ready wating for the OP to press the start button.

(;-) And if we had conditional Gcode we would not be having this conversation as I would never need to USE a macro to do anything seroius with motion code.

But I have learn over the years and with PRIOR experiences to NOT trust CB with Motion code.

Your Mileage May vary based on actual conditions at time of use, (;-) TP
