Brains Development / Re: Brain to control limit switches
« on: September 28, 2011, 09:51:26 PM »
If you will set overide Limits in config THEN you can move away from the switch after it is tripped. You can set it 2 ways one lets you push the button and then you can move off or the auto override lets you just move off the switch.

NOW be warned it WILL NOT stop you from moving the wrong way.(;-)

General Mach Discussion / Re: How do I make a DRO show an input value?
« on: September 28, 2011, 09:36:11 PM »
You may want to use Screen designer and double check that you do NOT have duplicate DROs trying to update each other all the time.
That would be the only reason I know for it to do what you describe.

Normally you would enter the number and press enter and the number stays. IF another process is also using the same dro it may be setting it BACK to that dro's value(ZERO).

Just a thought,(;-) TP

Normally I would use a button to update the value to the CONTROL. What code are you using to control the "ENTER" function it sounds as thought it is rezeroing the value after the enter keystroke.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Changing Offset With G-code
« on: September 28, 2011, 11:43:07 AM »
RAY Sense you brought up the subject(;-) You will FIND that ONE of the FAILINGS with the MACH3 G10 code IS it will NOT allow you to use a #var in the P parameter call. It requires an Integer between 1-255.

Sounds OK unitll you need to set the G10 in a Gcode program. THEN  "YOU" have to know what offset you are in OR run the risk of messing up big time.

IF the P call allowed a #var to be used then you could easily use

G91 G10 L2 P#5020 Z#101
G90

The #5020 references the CURRENT fixture Number

Just a thought, (;-)TP

General Mach Discussion / Re: Changing Offset With G-code

RUT ROW, Ray that is a different story now. Changing the offsets in the MIDDLE of the program.  THAT will make keeping track of where you are a lot harder. ND make it a lot easier to crash the machine if you forget where you are OR forget what comp you have active.

Normally all your work would be done from one datum point(origin). (simple part)

The only reason I could see for that is IF you are running your knee as the tool comp for really long tooling. Then it would make sense to use it as a knee mill is NOT blessed with a lot of Z travel for long tool comp. EVEN then I would just use a Fixture Change G54-G55 to a setpoint then when you need to return just G55-G54.

BUt as always your mileage may vary, (;-) TP

Ray that is as good as it gets. You could use the G52 but stay away from the G92 it is the evel  stepchild (;-) Even the G52 can catch you sleeping when it tries to unwind the offset.

The code runs fine here so it is not the code. Mach3 in NOT know to miss run Gcode. SO that leaves the machine . It is occasionally missing steps for some reason.

As to the G28.1 it should move to the home switches back off and set machine zero to X0 Y0 Z0. That is machine zero NOT work zero. The only way those 2 would be the same is IF you setup the Home offset to reflect the difference OR the home switches are setup AT work zero as well. THEN machine zero and home zero would be the same.

BUT if you then setup any work offsets such as  ZERO the XYZ then the WorkZero changes via the fixture offsets and you will see the change in the  fixture offset values.

CLear as MUD???, (;-)

HUM, I don't think so the MDI is a special 1 line program that runs G and Mcodes. The MDI can call the sub and Mach will see the sub but cannot run it in the 1 line it has to work with
