General Mach Discussion / Re: gecko540 problem under mach3

OK simple test. Set up a test block on the table touch off on the block and then set axis 0. Command a move of 100.00mm. Measure how far it actually moved.  measure to the same tolerance as the move .00mm.

What were the results? I have NEVER seen a Gecko/stepper move out of tolerance IF it was installed correctly. I HAVE seen MANY machines that could not hold tolerance on a bet. AND we are talking an SX3 (;-)

To answer your question NO it cannot be done with mach3.

You have been over the net talking about the bad hacks this and that BUT so far nothing has compared to the original BAD hack to the Z axis. (not even CNC related)

MAN up and just fix the thing correctly.

The only crutch I see is to use a counterweight pulley an cable system. That way the weight will reamain constant across the range of movement. Adjust the weight until you have comped for the  gravity effect.

Still does not solve your positioning problems.

Mach cannot deal with the annalog signal directly it will HAVE to be converted to digital signals.

Komar old buddy it may be time for you to take the next step. IF you cannot Trust the software/hardware and refuse to believe it could be your design THEN it may be time to step UP to the commercial side of things and invest in say a new FANUC controller/ ac servo hardware setup. NOW I know for a FACT that they can do the job for you.

But then again so can the Mach3/G540 here ??? Use it EVERY day on a 50"X60" table HUM?????  but you seem to NOT want to believe that part (;-).

Best of luck to you, (;-) TP

I don't know of ANY videos that cover that but you may want to try this book. It is called Easycnc a book for CNC begginners. it is NOT mach3 specific but I believe it covers all the basics needed to get started.

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: New Guy with an Old Question

OK lets clear up some of your issues,(;-)

First this site is manned by people that are volenters(don't get paid).  IF you are going to get PISSY about the free service I would suggest that you go BACK to where they TOOK your MONEY. They are the ONLY ONES that OWE you anything.

Second I just looked and do not see ANY wizard in the NFW set that is CALLED "PLANE" nor did I find one in the public wizards. SO I am not sure if ANYONE has any idea what you are refereing to.

NOW if you would like to try it again post in the MAIN forum for help and if you don't PISS them off you may get some help.

Mach3 and Lcam PRO are separate licenses. The standard Lcam comes with the MACH3 package.

The LCAM is in permanent BETA it is NO LONGER supported or updated AND it is what it is. BUT it does work and will allow you to create your work. It is just not the fanciest CAM on the planet

HOPE THAT HELPS, (;-) TP

THe tool comp can be done in many ways YOUR CHOICE. It can be done at the CAD level when you draw them. It can be done at the CAM level 2 ways ,, 1 let the CAM modify the toolpath to account for the tool diam OR 2 let the cam WRITE the tool comp Gcode that the MACHINE will use.

The other is to let the machine DO the tool comp BUT the Gcode HAS to written with that in mind AND you must support the tool table correctly and be assured that the tool and Gcode can ACTUALLY cut the part correctly without guoging the part.

SO what type of Tool comp are you wanting to use???

Real CNC work is NOT an easy task. It takes a LOT of work and PATIENCE to learn the skills needed to do TOTAL process.

BUT once you learn it is IS a DELITEFULL thing to play with(;-)

Just a thought(;-) TP

Cnc Grinders are far a few in between in the hobby world.  Can you describe WHAT it is you want the wizard to do?

You said you found one close. What else do you want it to do?

What code would you use IF you just wanted the Z to rehome???

Now what code would you use IF you wanted X or/and Y to refhome???

What was the question again?
