General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 update on Tormach Mill
« on: October 17, 2011, 10:01:58 PM »
DID you talk with Tormach about the updating???  Sometimes there are things written specifically for the version they run and sometimes their version is a special ver that may have ben written just for them.

Not always a good choice to update, (;-)TP

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: G96/G97 Command Structure
« on: October 17, 2011, 09:38:51 PM »
When you make a change in function as drastic as css to rpm or reverse it is logical that the internal mechanismes HAVE to be reset and restarted even more so with a buffered system such as Mach3.

Are you saying that you cannot properly close the CSS and restart RPM with the proper commands and code sequence?? IF you can do so with the init routine (all it does is run the Gcode sequence) you should be able to do so anytime.

NOW if memeory serves me there may still be problems with CSS mode. Hood would be the one to answer that part.

ASA to the fanuc references please remember that MACH3 is NOT fanuc. Many things were changed over the years for various reasons that only Art would know(;-). Many simply because it work not work any other way in windows.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Manual chipbreaking script?

IF you can do it fast manually then you can do it cnc based at the same rate as you would doing it manually . THINK about it.

The main question would be why would you want to do a manual process on a CNC machine that emulated an auto process.

Why not just type in the code to drill a hole?

BUT just in case, I don't think you can emulate what you want via a script AND run it as a MANUAL function. It would require functions that may  not exist and time delay problems that do exist.

Just a thought,(;-)TP

Jr Sample's used car lot. Call me at BR549.

Part of what you are seeing on yout tormach setup is the way te NFW was written long ago.

Try this open the nfw and go directly to the drill function. Set up a simple test troutine. NOW use the preveiw button does your M3s### numbers and tool change show up there?  Make sure you have data in all the tool setup fields. AND don't use tool(0). Make sure you checked direction for the spindle. AND make SURE the tool number you used has a value to the diam or just assign one.

NOW if you go back and do it again you MAY not see the M# and T# in the new code. That is one of the quirks you have to learn to deal with until they get fixed. In the way teh NFW deals with mulit jobs may effect HOW it does single jobs SOMETIMES.

The NFW does have some quirks to get used to. Could use some updating to make it a bit more useful in some areas. BUT it does work

Note : It is a LOT better than it used to be as far as quirks RON has been doing a fine job slowly but surely getting it updated. Part of the slow down is the complex way it was coded from the begginning.

Good Job Ron

To add to what Hood said to FIND the min/max extents of the program load the program then go to the toolpath page, top right hand side is a display of the MIN/MAX distances that are in the gcdoe file.

IF the torch is diving into the plate either your cut parameters are wrong or the up/down polarity is backbackwards and it is moving DOWN when it should be moving UP .

Just a thought, (;-) TP
