G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: Nested subroutines
« on: February 14, 2012, 01:25:07 PM »
YEP there are many parts in Mach3 that were never finished and do not work as expected such as G68. Is there a reason you NEED to rotate the part and not just do an offset.

You will also find when using SUBS some thing do not work correctly as well. The G68 problem more than likely is related to the use of the SUBs. Tool comp has problems with subs as well.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

General Mach Discussion / Re: G28.1

"G28.1z.001  (what is the .001)"

The Z.001 is the way point that the G28.1 function moves the Z to BEFORE it sends it to the home switch. Read the manual (;-)

Probably the source of the movement you are seeing.

Feature Requests / Re: Lathe probing/digitizing

THere is a section in the "Customising Mach2" manual on wizards.

The Programable front end macro would be something like

'Macro for probing X/Z M1000
Xstart = Question("X start position?")
Xstart= (Xstart + .020)
SetVar(4,Xstart)
Zstart= Question("Z start position?")
SetVar(3,Zstart)
Res= Question("Z step Value?")
SetVar(2,Res)
Lcnt= (Zstart / Res)
SetVar(1,Lcnt)
End

THe Gcode Probing program would be something like
M1000 ( open macro to program probe funtion)
M40 (open and name point file)
M98 P1 L#1
M41 (close point file)
M30

o1
G31 X0.000
G0 X#4
#3=[#3-#2]
G0 Z#3
M99
%

Or you could store the Variables on a page with DROs and just call the Gcode program when needed.

OR you can program the variable from the MDI and then just run the Gcode   #1=3.000 #2= 1.000 #3= 2.000 #4= .001
then load and run the Gcode Probe program.

There are many ways to do it, Your choice.

You are going to have to ask the person that BUILT the machine and configured the button. (;-)

The next time one clogs you need to stop remove the nozzle clean it out on the bench and SEE WHAT it is that is clogging the nozzle.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Plasma Z axis raises when torch is fired
« on: February 10, 2012, 10:07:58 AM »
AH YEP, that would do it. IF your ArcOK signal is ON all the time the instant you issue a M3 then the thc sees very low voltage and attempts to raise the head. As the arc actually starts the voltage goes UP and the THC corrects the head back down to the proper volt level.

Ian do you have units in the field yet??? Finalized the com system ???

YOUS GUYS show nuff talk funny . Must be something to do with being on the east side of the pond.

MAy need to increase the thc delay to allow more time for the pierce before the thc kicks in. It sounds as thought the THC is reacting as soon as the arc strikes then as it pierces it moves down to compensate.

Just a thought, (;-)TP

Answer to IAN, Probably because you are NOT yet swamped with folks that WON't read the manuals?????  Just a guess (;-)

Clogged nozzles is a contamenation problem of the water OR abrasives. Does the dischage nozzle clog OR the actual water jet.

That would be very easy to do have a start point end point for Z and start point for X.
Open points file and name with M40
G31 X0 and then advance Z then repeat until the end save the point file. Use a programable sub routine for resolution control.
M41 to close the points file and save.

Could be done with a wizard or a stand alone programable macro.

Just a thought, (;-)TP

Check with TOM  over at CandCNC. He is the gee wiz for that system.
