I am not sure that would help you. AS IS when the first program ends it rewinds and MACH3 is sitting idle. HOW does that mess things up???

I take it after the first program runs the OP needs to load a different program to run ??

General Mach Discussion / Re: Subroutine

OK here is your sub what exactly did you want to do with it?  Are you calling it from inside a Gcode program or is it to be a remote call? IT is an odd combination of SUB  but to each his own I guess. As long as it works for you.

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / COPY CAT for TURN??
« on: March 17, 2012, 07:00:59 PM »
HI RON, A fellow asked about copycat for probing on a lathe the other day.

I noticed that the present CC cannot work in TURN mode (produce proper Gcode for turn).

Looks like a simple fix???  Could a version be made for turn.  Looks like it COULD be very handy for the turn guys that want to replicate parts easily.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: Locating a pocket on Z axis
« on: March 16, 2012, 12:53:19 PM »
The WIzards SHOULD do that for you(;-)

You can do it several ways.

Change Fixtures between pockets etc, g55 g56 g57. Rememebr to set up the fixture offsets FIRST.

You can do a G52/92 offset

CODE
CODE
CODE

G55   This changes the fixture offsets to the preset values   (Z1.000)
G0 Z0  This moves to the  NEW Z 0.000 position

CODE
CODE

G0 Z1    This moves to the new offset position where you want the new Z0 to be
G92 Z0.000    This sets the values of the position back to 0.000

CODE
CODE
etc
etc

Hope that helps if not we will give it a another go.

I don't believe that feature was ever planned for in the NFW.  If you are doing conversational coding like the NFW it SHOULD be there. Other wise you would need to go back and EDIT the Gcode to provide the proper offsetting  (;-( Bummer.

May want to ask about that in the NFW forum on this site.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Encoder Problem

ALSO I believe the Rogers Machine encoder board WITH their plugin is what you are looking for. If my memory serves me their setup has a auto correction function built in.

I take it you are trying to replicate the ABS encoders found on moderm machine tools on a MACH3 budget ??

Install encoders route them to Mach3 DROs,

Calibrate the encoder to machine travel

When you Refhome the machine to Machine 0,0 then zero the encoder DROs as well.

IF you munch the machine and want to get back to zero do a compare of where you are to the Encoder DROs then calculate how far to move to get back to encoder 0,0 then move and setmachine Zero to 0,0.

THat is the simple version,

Home switches would be simpler(;-)

Personelly I would study and practice more with Gcode and the CNC so you did NOT munch the machine as often.

ANy macro that drives the turret would NOT be a MACH3 issue as MACH3 does not have such a thing it is a user derived macro that was created for YOUR turret mechanism specifically. You OR the Manf would be the only one to know what that was.

You would need to create another Mcode that includes the mechanism features(code needed to release teh turret) AND the G28.1 A0 to rotate it back to REFHOME. THen Call it by Mcode in the your Gcode program when needed.

You MAY find that code in the M6start or possibly the M6end macros

General Mach Discussion / Re: Gcode logging/tracing
« on: March 14, 2012, 08:47:11 PM »
You should be able to just parse through the Gcode and do the math as the gcode does making reference to the #vars.  In most cases you are not depending on being at a positional value as Mach3 gcode does NOT have direct access to that info via a #var.

Somewhere there is probably a hook into the #vars real values from the SDK side. OR NOT(;-)

You would need to ask Brian  if it is possible ON THE FLY.

There is a simple VAR monitor in Mach3 that allows you to see the #VAR value live. OR you COULD create a set of DROS to display var values live.

Just a thought(;-) TP
