General Mach Discussion / Re: Changing cut order. plasma
« on: October 16, 2012, 05:17:38 PM »
You have to check the cuts when you LET Scam do an auto create.  I never let Scam do the auto thing I check all the layers then select the functions as to inside/outside/nooffsets as I go in the order I want them to cut.

SOUNDS like you have one of the circles set on the wrong layer (same layer as the outside cuts)  Go back and query the object for the layer name.

Just a thought(;-) TP

OK NOW the display makes since IF 1 unit is 1 rev.  YA had me there.(;-)

Y arcs program the same BUT you have to do the math to convert the values  back and for from linear to polar.   Calculate the diam of the part then convert the cut into linear disatnce for the Y to travel. It is a battle to keep it all straight in your head at least MINE(;-)

Some Machines can take the offset from the A center line and do the calcs on the fly for you so you would program the Rotaries the same as the linear. With mach3 you have to do the arcs as micro segments of straight lines to form the arc.

Looks like you have the loops going x2 to get double the flats (;-).

I was thinking to do the flat segments as a series of threading cuts with e flats code intertwinded so small machines would talke multi cuts like a series of threading passes down to the finish size.

IF you change the #flats to 2 do you get 4 ?

General Mach Discussion / Re: G43 ignored

The deth of cut (z) is different because the larger the diameter the drill is the LONGER the leadin for the point is and you have to drill deeper to account for the extra length back to the guage point. Tha way you have a hole ALL the way through the material.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Please let me know how it works for YOU. I already know how it works here(;-)

There are times when accurate homing is usefull and MOST of the time it doesn't mean a thing to the average user. Most of the time only when you are using dedicated fixturing does it come into play.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Here is what you need to do to have Auto Preview for your plasma.

Modify your SheetCam Post(;-)

ADD to  OnPenDown()

 if  (string.find(operationName, _("Outside Offset") )) then
     post.TextDirect("o549 \n")
     post.Text (" X")
     post.Number (Sline1,"0.0000")
     post.Text(" Y")
     post.Number (Sline2,"0.0000")
     post.Eol()
   end

ADD TO  OnRapid()

   Sline1 =  (endX * scale)
   Sline2 =  (endY * scale)

Mach3  PREVIEW  BUTTON macro CODE************************

'Macro To AutoPreview
Sub main()
 Msg="Is Your Z HEIGHT Safe To Travel AND X0Y0 set?"

Response = MsgBox(Msg, 4 )
If Response = 7 Then
GoTo N3:
Else
GoTo N2:
End If

N2:
Code"G1 F30"
Code"M98P549"
DoButton(0)
GoTo N4:

N3:
MsgBox("Move Z To A Safe HEIGHT OR set X0.000 ,Y0.000 And Restart")
GoTo N4:

N4:
End Sub
End

after you have posted the Gcode IF you want to do a Preview   Just get ready,  Set your X0 Y0 and raise the Z up to a safe travel height and then PRESS the button.

Mach3 will use a special trick to GOTO the beginning of the Outside contour and run the code for a prview of where it is going to cut WITHOUT the torch on. When it completes it reloads the Gcode ready for you to do a normal start.

Darn I need to rotate the metal just a squeak(;-) OR USE G68 (only works with a G31 TOM routine ) to rotate the program  THEN push the button again to test.  IF all is well then hit Cycle Start like normal

IF you don't like it I will give you DOUBLE your money back(;-)

IF you set up mill to see the code wrap A around Z. You can see the warp that it produces.

BUT I still don't see it rotating A all the way around from watching the DROs.

I will give this some more study to see if there is a different way.

I think INC may be a bit easier to deal with.

Ever Wish you could do a part preview run on your plasma table to see IF that part will fit that peace of odd material. Maybe IF you shifted the material a touch here or there it would cut fine and not waste another piace of metal by running off a corner here or there?

I have worked out a way to do it IF you use MAch3 and SheetCam to cut your plasma stuff.

A post mod to Sheetcam is needed and a new screen button for Mach3.

ANyone interested ??

When I run your code it does NOT rotate the part .

I agree that the picture they show of the steel part did NOT come from that machine(;-) Doing it the way it showed in the example. MAYBE if they use a fine tip and MANY small moves.

NOW IF mach3 could do arcs in the A axis this would be simple.

OK you are thinking from the inside out I was thinking from the outside in.

I picture you turning the OD to fit the shape then cutting the flats like a thread moving the Xin and out as an arc to cut the flats. Starting from the outside then working your way in to the final position.
