General Mach Discussion / Re: setup speed ref in mm/sec
« on: October 26, 2012, 11:46:38 PM »
That I am aware of there is NO way to do what you want. Mach3 only deals in MM/MIN or INCHES/MIN.

IF you needed to go the other way it would be a piece of cake  from mm/min to mm/sec  just redue the FRO to 1.666% and you would have it.

BUT mach cannot do over a 200% FRO .

General Mach Discussion / Spacely Sprockets or Cosley Coggs ??
« on: October 26, 2012, 09:02:13 PM »
If yous guys are into gears, coggs, sprockets, pulleys, gear mechanism, etc then you HAVE to take a look at ART's newest creation.

http://www.gearotic.com/

You need to download the demo and PLAY with the gizmos.

BUT I WILL WARN YOU IT IS LIKE CRACK, once you have started using this there is no turning back. You will soon be a gearhead like it or not.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Photos carved from Mach 2 and Mach 3
« on: October 26, 2012, 08:05:59 PM »
IN mach2 are you using the import bitmap function to do the carving ? IF so the EARLY versions of mach3 still had that function as part of mach3 that is what Hood is pointing out.

SO if that worked for you in mach2 it will work for you in Mach3 (early version).

IF you are not using the bitmap import what CAM are you using.  CUt wise IF mach2 can doit so can mach3.

Just a thought< (;-) TP

Light cuts grasshopper, light cuts. I have done it on a small lathe by hand,  tool held in a flimsy toolpost and MANY MANY ins and outs. AND a very SHARP high rake bit.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 Solidcam 4th Axis Post Processor
« on: October 26, 2012, 05:15:01 PM »
It is going to depend on what which solidCAM package you have and HOW you plan to do the 4th. Indexial or continous 3d or ????.

You package may not even support 4th axis work .

Thats right you DO loose the cool import features that MACH2 had.

Lcam is mainly  potluck, you get what you get on images.

obiously MAch2 is working very well for you  LIke I said IF it is not broke (;-).

Gotcha, I don't own one of those phones either (;-) Don't even own a cell phone.

IF you convert from 2-3 you WILL have to reconfig 3 to your current settings. 3 does things differently. But once you get it working correctly then everything is portable with updates from there on out.

Beautiful work by the way (;-)

HIYA Jeff, thanks for the compliment BUT I am just another chip slinger on here. There are people FAR smarter than I am on here.

I just want to do things that the normal MACH3 does not do to the point I will spend DAYS/WEEKS working on things that in the end I either find a way to do it OR I fnd out ALL the ways that it can't be done.

AND those are BAD WORDS, "can't be done" (;-).

IT has been done for years on lathes AND mills. BUT it creates a lot of side load on the gantry style mills/routers that you would normally not see. Running it in the X axis inline with the gantry would be the best.

Give it a whirl, (;-) TP
