Probably not to you or I BUT for the newbie it could be the difference Between success in getting the machine ONLINE or junking it out.

The Magazine people and OEMs try to make it all out as Plug and Play. AND with some setups and controller it can be BUT with Mach3 it is FAR to Flexable and open to be be so. AND yes that can be a BAD thing

 Other controllers have gone to great depth to make sure their manuals are correct and up to date . Where Artsoft and OEMs still depend on the original manual as reference.


So it really depends on the volunteers here and IF they want to put forth the effort to fix it OR just lets it ride.  I hope that the new Mach3V4 will have its OWN website to keep the help needs separated. I can not imagine dumping a new mach3V4 on top of all this (;-)

Next would be the issue of copyrights to the various manuals already in print.  I personnelly do not have any problem with anything I have placed on this site as to being copied or modified. That is the reason I wrote it for others to use.

SOME are not so easy going with that part. They do not want ANYONE to copy anything they posted.

Wait I see the problem now. You are afraid that the Wife will love it and then YOU will be chained to a new plasma table in the workshop cutting metal art all day and half the night. While she cruises the art fairs selling your SLAVE labor. (;-)

Metal art is unique in its VERY broad market of artistic ideas.  You are ONLY limited by your imagination.

HIYA Scott years ago we tested a mach version with a MUCH higher scanrate. It was a rocketship as far as I/O.

I think there were problems with getting all the moduals to synch up or display problems or    Never heard mention of it after that.

DAVE I am retired and have volumes of free time(;-) IF your wife likes metal art lets give her a sample to play with.

 Over the years I have MADE about 1 of everything for ME.

No obligation on your part it is just a gift. IF you would rather have something else you have seen or thought of name it or send me a picture or drawing. The old puters are CRYING for something to do (;-)

IF the Gcode you are using is a lot of small moves MACH may not be able to get to TOP Feedrate as called. If that is the case going UP on Feedrate does not speed up the job.  On jobs like that Acceleration is the key to going faster.

Good Idea Ian, The option is to use a probe with a limit switch built in so that IF it overtravelled the limit would shut it down before damage occurs.

Might want to sell them a good probe as well (;-)

I think your own words sum it up nicely.  You were disappointed that Tormach would not work with YOU to develope 3rd party hardware to run with a standard TORMACH. (;-)

I don't care to get into a Tormach debate, but I do want to clarify one thing. In my inquiry, did not suggest Tormach change their policy (regardless of how condescending *most* people think it is). I offered to spend MY time reconfiguring MY software to eliminate any possible conflict with their setup, and that no Tormach customer needed to be involved nor inconvenienced nor given access to anything. The process would be one engineer (me) consulting with an other engineer (Tormach's) to provide QC for the benefit of Tormach owners.

Their response (again in writing) was that they are " . . . not excited about helping third parties, particularly those [who's products] compete with Tormach's".  They inked me to their 'Duality Lathe' as if that was in any way competitive with or equivalent to the InTurn™. My current controller also accommodates a servo driven spindle with universal hard tapping macros included. Tormach has no equivalent that I am aware of.

The simple solution is to ditch the entire Tormach setup and do a fresh install of MACH and put the InTurn™ stuff over it. Tormach only succeeded in aggravating their own users  . . and me. I am asked a couple of time a week what machine I reccommend for use with the InTurn™ 4th axis. Venture a guess?

Dave here is a sample of font styles  Square, rounded, Script, Simple script.

You can have it boxed similar to your wooden one OR have it OPEN font with a simple tie bar across the bottom.
