G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: Basic 3D Help
« on: March 24, 2013, 07:26:38 PM »
Yous Guys are 2 fancy for me(;-) I did do a sample of 2.5d workl to show its use. I did it in MAch3 conversational(;-) Of course it needs to be adjusted for use.

Being all the angle changes are linear it would be a piece of cake for a Parametric SUB

Well I can suggest a 2 1/2d approach but I am not a very active user of 3d solid modelling and 3d CAM (real old school).

OH there probably is (;-) Somewhere. I'll take a look. Most cams can take Cart (XY)and convert to Angular(XA) on posting. It is a wrapping feature.

Yes Gerry HAS the right approach(;-) BUT that just gives you a LATHE solution for the profile.  IF you are wanting to carve a design into the profile it is another matter.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

General Mach Discussion / Re: Cuter Complensationn working ???
« on: March 24, 2013, 05:22:53 PM »
Sure but trying to describe what may or may not work and what versions may do what or not may take days(;-)

Cutter comp has not been fixed in later versions (.066/.067) That I am aware of, there be bugs with G2/3.

You would need to BACK UP in Version until you find one that is stable for YOU. But none are realy stable for doing Tool Comp with sub programming.

IF memory serves me .043.22 worked fairly well in Straight Gcode without SUBS. With subs it would do one layer into the sub then fail IF you went another Nest layer deeper in a aSUB.

Not certain without retesting, Your Milage may vary(;-), TP

Mach Screens / Re: reversing "A" axis rotation on toolpath display?
« on: March 24, 2013, 03:23:17 PM »
You do realize we are describing the same thing right? Only you are describing tool tip motion and I am describing Table motion to get proper tool tip motion as defined in MACh3.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

General Mach Discussion / New type Mach3 conversational PAGE
« on: March 24, 2013, 02:56:57 PM »
OK I have been playing again. Sence the New Mach3 Wizard is OUT and running I thought that the Gcode programmers out there needed a function for creating Gcode programs from the command line approach.

From this page you can create a Gcode program directly into Mach3 and VIEW the toolpath  ONSCREEN  as you add to the File.

(button) Create the header and safety block for the file and loaded into MACH3 so it is veiwed on the toolpath.

(button) add Gcode commands to the file and update the program and toolpath for each line.

(Button) Complete the file and assign a FIlename and reload into MAch3.

I can be done as a new PAGE or a WIZARD.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Just a thought but it IS possible to trick MACh3 into using the A axis as Y so you could do the process directly as a standard XYZ plane instead of angular thrown in the mix.

You could also engrave on the A axis the same way. Mach3 will think that  A is Y.  There is a subject here on the site that deals in it

Probing on the 4th is basically the same as probing on Y(flat Plane) the difference is the Point values are angular not Cartesian.

So you may have to convert the values back to cartesian for the program that deals in points clouds to be able to use them.

Then when you are ready to POST the gcode it has to be converted BACK to angular values for the A axis to use.

I am assuming that you want to probe engraving on a post or something similar?

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Just checked ,all brains and the MP are OFF. Safe Z off as well. Let me shut off teh RFH window as I have seen it act funny EVEN when there was no RFH called. It was tripped with the Start Next Line function. And there was NOT even a RFH button on the screen(;-)
