Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Creating a Probe File

OK now convert it to a G65 parametric macro so it can be called on demand and programed on the fly.  Can you send the centerpoint or diameter values to the Last Error Line ? good for Operator reference(;-).

Mach4 does have potential (;-)

Looks Good Craig,  You do not need probe tip comp with a center of routine the radius compensated ITSELF from both sides of the hole. YOU would need it IF you were looking for hole diameter as well.  In mach3 we had probe tip comp that worked very well. maybe we will get lucky in Mach4(;-)

We do need the error codes setup #3000 and LOT more #vars  . ALSO we need the trip point value brought out to a #var. THERE IS a signal call for that(;-).

Without the error traps it would be easy to mis program the probing length of an axis and cause the center of hole to be offcenter.

Question IF you let the probe run to the END POINT does it write the endpoint values.

You could use the   Last_output_X (#5002) to check against BUT it  outputs Machine Corrds at this point. BUT it does work with the G31 moves just ion Machine coords not work coords.

See if this is what you are doing Gcode wise. IF it is then in your wizard all you need to do is populate the #vars.   and Code"" the gcode into the wizard.

Using the Gcode Sub approach 1 program fits ALL combinations of splines(within the physical possibilities).  This Gcode is also assuming that you are cutting below the centerline of A axis  NOT above the centerline. AND the linear axis is X. You can change the code to suite the machine.

Here is a TIP. Mch3 does not always display things as you think it should. There are somethings that confuse it. BUT the machine may cut just fine.

There should be 2 sections to the program the first is to create 1 cut per spline all the way around. then it should loop into the 2nd section where it does a total number of REVs to achieve the final depth.

IF you can't figure it out get back and post the WHOLE program or the WIZARD. It is hard to work with just small portions without seeing the entire program.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Kerf problems on multiple parts
« on: May 22, 2014, 11:28:30 AM »
That is USUALLY an indication that you are NOT completing a LEADOUT from the previous cut and MACH3 is trying its best to unwind the leadout in the next move which may be the leading JIGGLE you are see.

You should have a leadin move after the G42 call which you do BUT I do not see a leadout move after the G40 call.

NORMALLY with torch cutting you do not use ToolComp  As the leadin/outs can make it complicated if not executed properly.  The offsetting is normally done on the CAM side OR if you are hand programming just account for the Kerf in your programming.

AND there are problems in Tool Comp with Mach3. Mach4 has it down pat.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

FIrst program the actual motion functions in a Gcode SUB to get the motions correct. THAT will show you what you need to do to make the Wizard program the sub correctly.

COOL Russ, NOW can you make it NOT add the ext on SAVE so I can program SUBS with it. AS IS I have to use Notepad because IT can save with NO ext.

HIYA Graham, NOT the case here. It says it is a *.tap file and loads it as a *.tap file. Just won't show the highlights. I will do some more testing. I will copy the code into a NEW file and save and see what happens.

NOTE: That did it Graham I opened the file, copy and paste into a NEW file and saved. NOW it displays the Highlights

THANKS, (;-) TP
