G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: BobCAD, Mach3, Plasma cutting
« on: December 14, 2014, 05:47:38 PM »
AGAIN I say that your GCODE  PROBLEM is with BOBCAM writting BAD Gcode. In the post it should turn ON(M3) /OFF(M5) the torch as needed. OBVIOUSLY it is NOT writting the correct Gcode to do so.

To add to that the code you showed is some of the WORSE plasma cutting Gcode I have seen produced from a CAM package. NO ONE uses SUBs to cut with a plasma machine that I have ever seen.

It is NOT a mach3 problem.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Zero Radius Arc
« on: December 14, 2014, 04:53:32 PM »
Vetric is putting out code that for the most part cannot be done based on the resolution of your machine. That arc is an .0001" arc which is probably Less than your machine can move it one step. For the most part Mach3 can absorb those type moves BUT it being in an arc call it does not seem to be able to absorb the move and continue.

You should be able to set the CAM to not do such small moves. Then repost and try it.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

FAQs / Re: When Ref all home Y axis hits the bottom
« on: December 13, 2014, 05:04:22 PM »
IF you do not have physical switches AND you have homing set up in config THEN it will attempt to go HOME but can never hit a switch as there are none.

IF the switches are NOT set up in config then it will just refhome at the current position(reset to Machine ZERO) Machine coords are NOT what you normal use to cut by. WORK zero is what you cut by.

General Mach Discussion / Re: ProtoTrak SMX 4000 crash

It is possible it is a Blown fuse instaed of a switch. Power it down and check the fuses. The servos are in the black box ON the servo itself BUT the fuses may be in the main cabinet.

It would best to check the manual for that machine as to servo faults and clearing them.  OR call the factory for help.

axis servo faulted. SO you need to reset the servo to clear the fault. THER may be a reset button on the servo drive BUT try the power down and restart first

The M5 and M9 just turn OFF the relays for M3/4 and M7/8. they are NOT assigned a relay option. SO what ever pins you assign they just turn them OFF.

It looks as IF each program is using a different approach to the cutting. ONE is using top down cutting where Z0 is the top of the material and it cuts in Z- and the other is cutting bottum up where Z0 is the bottom of the material and cuts in Z+.

Both will work BUT YOU must understand how it is working and HOW to setup the machine to cut properly.

IF you do not have ref switches then MAKE SURE that you have all of them turned OFF in config. With them turned OFF Mach3 will then reference the position that you are currently at.

You would MOVE to the position you want to set as Machine zero then click on the refall button. That sets machine to the current location.  NOW you normaly ONLY set the machine Zero ONCE. Setting Machine Zero is ONLY to let Mach3 know where it is in 3d space. It then tracks your work positions referenced back to Mach coords.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

To move the jobs around the table you would use ZEROALL or ZERO each axis . THAT will set the WORK zero or Point of Origin of the work.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Dual head offsets.
« on: December 12, 2014, 10:33:44 PM »
NOW as teh first test "I" would drill all the holes first THEN switch to the G55 and finish all the rest.

Then when you get a good grip on using fixture offsets you could try the flip flopping of fixtures at each hole.

Test each senario to SEE which one finishes in the least amount of time.

It may surprise you, (;-) TP
