The reasoning  behind the Hex/Oct core wire is to help keep the wrapping wire from unwinding under tension and changing the tonal qualities.

Just a thought (;-) TP

I think you may want to play with the focal length. I studied 3d glass engraving for a while. The secret was to have the focal length set to the INSIDE  of the glass. FOr cutting/scribing I would think the Focal length needs to be either on the top surface of the glass OR the bottom surface.

In manual glass cutting a bottle circumference you scratch the outside surface then run it under boiling hot water a little at a time and you can get a perfect seperation 99% of the time.  So well defined that you can reset the two pieces back together and it will not leak water

From Cold to HOT (;-) the glass expands and fractures at the Scribe line.  From Hot to cold it tries to contract and most times cannot contract enough to do the fracturing due to compression.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

G31 with A axis works fine It will even include A in the points file if you needed it.

The manual has been wrong for many years.

Tony, Tormach is the one that WROTE the software to do the function. THEY will be the only one that can trouble shoot your problem. Tormach's  RUN mach3 so I can't believe they cannot help you short it out.

You paid for the accessorry , they are the one that need to step up and get it done.

So if I take this right. You have already cut the ports square and you need to find the edge of one of the ports again ?  Simply go back and touch off manually with a piece of paper.  Creep over to the edge of the port and hold a piece of paper between the bit and the port edge. Keep creaping over while sliding the paper back and forth until you feel the paper drag against the bit and port edge. NOW set the dro to the value that was used to cut the port edge.  Easy Peasy.

OR if you had a probe you could simply touch off on the port edge using the A axis as the pivot.  I do this all the time building rotary couplers where there are ports stationed along the X axis AND around the A axis.  I use a probe to find the Center of the Port that is the POO (point of Origin).

Are you cutting the sleeves one at a time OR have you placed all 6 in the A axis and do them all at one shot ?  I was doing this in the 70's on a Bridgeport and an indexer.
