General Mach Discussion / Re: Tool changer motor overheating
« on: April 22, 2015, 10:58:15 PM »
After looking at the Macro something is strange about the code. It cannot see how it could  work as described as the Case statements are NOT reading the switch logic but are actual creating the logic. That process is called dark logic where it decodes the switch logic (on/off). In the code it is turning ON/OFF the outputs not reading it.

Or it could be my slow brain these days (;-)

Just a thought, (;-) TP

IT could be hopping over the line of code in the script and would not hang. Try placing some sleeps to help control timing.  Some PCs will do that some won't.   I would try adding in some SLEEP statements to help track it down. put a short sleep before and after the offending line of code as a test.
Sleep(100) should do. If that fixes the problem then rewrite the code to insure proper timing of the code( yea I know you should not have to do that BUT(;-) ).

You should be able to look at the output signal LED to see IF it turned on and OFF

There will be NO updates or fixes for Mach3.

V067 was a special version created for an OEM for plasma use. I would back up to V.062 as was suggested.

Is this an LPT version or do you use an outside controller ??

Any more that needs to be the first question asked (;-)

Could be you have the drive switch state backwards to what is required (active high/ active low). Some drives will loose steps if that is backwards . Try varing the pulse width  if 1ms then try 5ms or 15ms.

Try dropping the accel and velocity values by 50% then retest.

You need to test the inputs to the DC motor to verify IF the motor is actually turning off. Sounds like it is NOT and will overheat the motor. Simply test. It MAY be that the Polarity of the signal is backwards in the SS causing the motor to stay ON.

It should not be a long program with your settings. The small stepover is needed because the size of your cutter is almost the size of the pocket you require.

With a little trickery you COULD use the Canned drill cycles .

HIYA Ron that is because the Stepover being too large and there is no error checking in the wizard. If you reduce the stepover to 10% it works. That one is a VERY EARLY wizard by Brian.

YEP Use G31 in a macro. Just point it in the correct direction It will run until it hits the switch then reset the Z with G92 X0.

Code"G31 X10 F20"  ' it will move in the X positive direction at 20ipm  until it either hits the switch or reaches X10.
Code"G92 X0.000"    ' Sets the offset to 0.000
