The issue is NOT about speed but about distance traveled per step so that the rotary axis travels teh appropiate surface distance per rev.

What you are trying to do is emulate the Haas G107 function. Not many will have teh experience in doing that. I did it for Mach3 and several OTHER DIY controllers. I remember doing it for Mach4 but don't remember where I stored teh code(Macro).

Basically you are just resetting teh step/per based on teh diameter of teh part in teh rotary axis .  Steps per /diameter of part.

It basically works like this M107 Pxx.********* where teh P parameter is teh part diameter.

Hopefully that will help someone that wants to try to make it for you.

The M98 is used in the gcode file to call the sub program that is in the sub directory. It is used in Mach3. What version of mach are you using Mach4 is different.

Mch 3 currupts teh XML when the PC looses power and cannot fully create /Save the XML. You SHOULD have saved off a copy of a good XML so you can restore it on power up after a power loss. You can create a Batch file to auto transfer teh backup file to the mach3 folder.

Sounds like you need someone to write you a simple utility to scan teh Gcode and Convert all the "Fnnn" strings to ( Fnnn X 60).

Just a thought , (;-) TP

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mirror probing
« on: April 02, 2019, 10:23:09 AM »
Giving this a bit more thought here is how I would do this project.

Mount the barrel in teh 4th and center the probe over teh barrel in Y axis.

Move teh X point to teh start point of teh probing routine. Probe tehesurface in Z and set teh Z to the radius of the barrel at that point.

Next probe in X for the distance of the rib to be duplicated. This gives you a single line contour of teh barrel.

Save out teh points and import them into CAD.

From CAD create a angular array from teh end view. The total angle would be teh wide of teh rib section.

Rotate teh points 180 degrees to create a negative of teh barrel form.

That would give you an easy set of points to create a 3d surface from. ( Point Cloud)

Export teh points out or convert the points into a surface file.

Then from a 3d CAM create a 3d toolpath to recreate the barrel contour.

Just a thought , (;-) TP

Simply mount the barrel in the 4th and use a steady rest to support the rest of the barrel. :) Yo can then probe in X/A in either of 2 modes long runs up and down X indexing A or  A with short moves of X.

That would seem to be the easy way using just 1 probe.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach 3 Threading Hangs
« on: April 01, 2019, 12:27:44 AM »
The uc300 requires an A/B encoder and a single spindle pulse per rev. The encode signals tell teh UC300 what direction the spindle is turning and at what speed. The single spindle index signal sets teh starting point of the thread.
From what I remember from testing all this years ago Mach3 threading with a uc300 worked OK . There were just a few quirks to contend with on certain types of threading.

You can turn threads just fine with UCCNC and the uc300 or the uc400. Being it is encoder controlled you always have perfect thread pitch control.

Last I knew Mach4 cannot thread with a uc300 due to plugin restrictions
