HI Tweakie, went down the shed (workshop) to change the Estop setting as you suggested. Got a problem, I changed it, done the apply then OK. Tried the machine still not working. when I looked at the Estop it had not changed, so tried again, and again. it keeps say Estop requested, any suggestions. I have changed it with the machine off line but it keeps defaulting to the original setting, I've even disconnected the estop all to no avail, any suggestions.

Cheers Tweakie, my computer/machine is not connected to the internet, but unfortunately the new machine I purchase came with windows installed and it kept asking for me to install the 74 updates in it memory, I kept ignoring it but finally thought what damage can it do, how wrong can you be. I'm from the UK and we have a saying when your waiting for a bus 2 come at once. Well I thought it was the power supply to my old computer so ordered a new power supply. It came this morning and guess what, I now have 2 working computers for my Denford Triac CNC.  Cheers mate and thanks for your prompt reply. Boris Johnson is back and needs a haircut, now all we have to do is get ride of that dam virus. Jimthefish.

General Mach Discussion / reset button not working
« on: April 27, 2020, 06:18:16 AM »
Recently my computer controlling my CNC failed. So replaced it with the same HP 7800 SFF computer. Set it all up and the machine worked perfect. switched it off and it automatically said 74 updates. next time I turned it on I ended up with a blue screen of death. So did the modification as suggested on forum Windows7/parallel port crash. Fine can now load program but cannot get the rest button on MAch3 to flip. Any suggestions.

Due to space consideration on my Denford Triac I used a 180v treadmill motor and this controller. It worked perfect, didn't bother to run it through Mach, just used 240v household socket to the variable controller for speed and on/off control. One day might try and run through Mach 3 software.

I just use reverse for machine tapping with my tap holder.

I'm a hobby CNC'er so don't use complex programs but I always start my programs with a G80 in the first line, I used to teach CNC programming in the 1990 which again was very basic but insisted all my students started their programs with the first line with G0 (G21 or G20) G49 G17 G80 G40 G50 G90 probably over cooked instructions and things have moved on, but when dealing with students it saved lots of crashes and damage.
Hope this helps.
Jim

just a thought, you might be retaining an offset or other code when the job has finished. This carries over to the next component. by shutting down your computer and machine you cancel all previous codes and reset all positions so all will be correct. make sure all your subroutines are cancelled at the end of the program as they sometimes carry over to your next component.

Just had a second look and your program does have a z 0 retract value at the completion of the program. And yes it looks as if you have forgot to enter a cutting depth in your CAD values, so the cutter just touches the top of the component. Can I suggest you practice putting some simple geometric shape programs in by hand to grasp the basics of CNC before you trust CAD software. Errors on CNC programs can be very expensive mistakes.
Best of luck in your CNC machining its a great skill to learn and lots of fun

Yes but remember CAD needs you to put in the values in a specific order, I don't use any CAD software I used to teach basic CNC in the 1990's so don't use or trust myself to use it as I'm a part time hobby machinist. You need to used CAD software everyday to become confident and not make errors. I forgot to say remember the tool will be in the material when its finished machining so make sure after the last cut there is a positive Z value. Something my students forgot to do, they would admire their work only to find a groove from the bottom of the component cut to the home position.
