I am using ESS 285 and latest mach4 5036

for days I have been trying to get a PWM output on output 2-14 tied to the spindle output.  I did have it working some months ago but PC died and trying to get going again.

Does anyone have simple instructions??  I have watched every video out there and they all seem to be tied to a laser or much older plugins or they have the same questions as me....

So after uninstalling MACH4 and CSMIO and then installing (more than once) it is working about 80% of the time.  I still get error "can't transition from MDI running to stop" and it does not get the correct numbers the first time.  I need to run it twice for it to record a correct number.  But it is good enough.

From the 10 minutes that I have been on the mill after the firmware update, it seems to find the center of a circle.  I wll need to do more testing later tonight on the overall function.  I still get the error "can't transition from MDI running to stop" about every 5th time I hit the find center button under the touch icon.  I think this error comes from ringing (or a double hit) on the input.

Funny web site...  Read the release notes no mention of updated firmware.  But I did download the zip file and it does work.  fixed the probe center issue I was having!  Thanks for  the post!!

CS-Lab / MACH4 touch screen and center find
« on: May 06, 2019, 12:08:24 PM »
WIN10, Updated to the latest MACH4 hobby using latest firmware from CSMIO/M and isolated drill rod for probe.  Everything "kind of" works except the center finder under the "touch" button.  It finds the right left up down and then the probe moves to center then it moves diagonally till it hits the probe and stops.  Get the follow error.  "Can't transition from MDI running to stop".

Questions/statement:
1) no clue how to run the probe menu.  The video is TERRIBLE and the documentation is worse.  Sorry about that
2) have never used offsets.  I am a hobby hack and just want to make things.
3) I understand that CSMIO does all the probing so I am thinking it is something to do with that
4) Does the "touch" button commands have anything to do with the probe menu variables?  That is, does the touch button variables use any other variables outside the touch button menu??
5) Right now I am simply using the probe and math to find the center. measure right left divide by two then repeat to verify.

Thanks and please ask anything.  You cannot hurt my feelings, I sell industrial controllers to engineers.

CS-Lab / Re: CSMIO IP/M - No connection / Problem with IP Adress?

Finally have it running. I have a FP4 version so I am able to run V3.  After uninstalling all software and reinstalling only V3 and Mach4 it was able to connect and start moving the steppers.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Setting Soft Limits On as the Default
« on: July 06, 2018, 10:07:22 AM »
I am not getting this button default state to work.  I select button down and it seems that it just changes it for the moment and and does set the default.  My goal is to have keyboard and softlimits enabled by default.

i change to button down, restart and the button is not active.

thank you for any info.

I upgrade from mach3 to mach4 due to the auto update of win 10.  everything was running fine before this.  I did not feel like restarting windows back and could not downgrade to the previous version . thought mach 4 would be the easier way to go.

I have been unsuccessful in get the CSMIO/IP-M to work with mach4.

I am able to ping the controller. I am able to get the spindle to run.

Unable to see IO (after mapping) in diagnostics, unable to get stepper motors to move.  mach4 freezes when I try to select motion device.  the firmware sure looks like it is made for servo and not stepper so I think something is not right here...  setup_csmio-ip-m-2.854 is what I currently using.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled mach4.

Does someone have mach4 running with csmio/ip-m??

Thanks,
