Mach4 General Discussion / Re: MACH4 Vcarve ESS z axis crashing into wood
« on: December 15, 2023, 05:42:25 PM »
So it is working now.

Has to be something with vcarve and how it creates the gcode for the v-carve tool without a clearance bit.  I added a clearance bit and it now works.  I thought I could crate a star with a clearance bit and just increase the depth so the v-bit would do all the work.  But vcarve does not like that.

this has to be a setting in mach4. something to do with tool height

The z axis is tight
I upgraded to MACH4 5036 and ESS to 298
cleared out the tool database.  went to vcarve and changed everything to tool 0.

Why would the z axis move down further than the gcode states?

Mach4 General Discussion / MACH4 Vcarve ESS z axis crashing into wood
« on: December 13, 2023, 02:54:48 PM »
I have been using Mach4 for years on a home made machine with ESS and the Z axis is moving in way I have not seen before.

Issue:  Seems that the Z axis keeps moving down without moving back up before the next move. On another PC I use the MACH4 simulator and it runs correctly.

If you look to the image you see on the gcode the z axis should be -.2343 but if you look at the position it is at -.6177. So the router is PLOWING into the wood.

Thanks!
Phill

CS-Lab / Re: CSMIO/P-M
« on: July 31, 2023, 01:44:00 PM »
Not sure what to do with CS labs.  but I figure they owe me about a million dollars if I were to back charge them at $2/hour for troubleshooting. Once again the probe feature hardly works.  I have another machine with ESS with less issues.  Not to mention why does artsoft put up with this.  Who’s more at fault?  The person doing wrong or the person letting the person wrong. I have been using Mach forever as a hobbyist but this cs lab thing needs to be shut down.  They waste a lot of time.  Just read their explanation pid fault error.

Very easy.  I copied the old profile directory into the new mach4 location.  and it works.

Mach4 General Discussion / what files do I need to recreate my profile
« on: April 18, 2023, 06:32:20 PM »
had an issue with my pc and lost mach4 now I am try to recreate my profile. Using CSMIO-M.

I lost mach4 and have reinstalled Mach4 (5039 i think) and the CSMIO apps and plugins.  I do have a backup of my old mach4 with all files and directory.  What files do I need to move back to my working mach4 directory to have it running again??  Too late to use the help -->> package function..

Thanks,
Phill

Mach4 5036 ESS 285

Mach4 pauses during run at various locations.  Just upgraded to 5036 and ESS 285.

Using PWM output for laser and it runs fine when I disconnect the laser which is odd since I do not think there is any feedback to from the PWM output.  It has run the entire gcode a few times.  Mach does not show any actions on the history.

Please ask questions.  It is impossible to ask dumb questions.  I've been in Industrial sales for 30 years....  thanks Phill

I figured it out.  I assigned a bogus inputs for limits.  Just seems silly that its not really documented and why do spindles need to be associated with all things an axis motor...

back to another issue now with more detail.

i have one machine with two profiles.  One profile for a router running a VFD with analog 1-10v. I use a device that converts step frequency to analog out.  Another profile that is for a laser that requires PWM.  I use Vcarve for the gcode.  For the router I use spindle speed of 4000-24000 step/direction output and for the laser I use 0-100 PWM.  Some months ago it worked great.

Now with the 5036 and ESS 284 I get the attached error. Axis 6's motor 5 does not have a home switch....

So now again.  Are there simple instructions for setting up the spindle?

Thanks and please ask questions. phill
