Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Plasma Pierces... then doesn't move

Do you have an "Arc OK" signal set up? Is that working as it should?
Is your plasma cutters earth attached to the sheet you are cutting?
Is your tip voltage reading OK?

I guess as you have the TMC3in1 you are using an ESS - look on their forum lots of info there follow their set up guide carefully using the latest plugins and screen.

It could be lots of things - I have the same set up as you do and it works great. Take your time and check everything again.

Hi Joe
You could put a collar (or ring) on each of the drills so they go the same distance into the chuck each time - so you only have to set the offset once not each time you change your drill.

Try a different browser - google sometimes won't let me on there.

Hi Bob
You're on the other side of the world from me. But there are guys in the Mach 4 part of the forum (second group down from the top) that have done that with a mini PC of the top of my had and I might be wrong but look for an user caller Joeaverage - I sort of remember him doing that.
Post some questions in that area and you will get more responses.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: My tool runs off
« on: October 14, 2020, 06:20:30 PM »
Hi Guys
I have seen this as well, when I was trying different development versions to find one that has G76 working for my lathe I had one version I tried (4360 I think, but none could be found from the ones I tried that G76 worked) where Mach 4 seemed to draw it's own tool path and then proceeded to follow it. I had a simple series of longitudinal cuts, I was watching the progress on the screen when a random angled line appeared part way through the job on the tool path display and then Mach followed that path - like it wasn't out of control but it miss interpreted the Gcode and was following what it though it should. I don't think it's a noise issue because Mach followed some random path it drew itself on the tool path.

Thanks Graham
The included lathe wizards only output G76 (as far as I can tell) and if you want to build a part using the wizards it is just a complication that can lead to an error, I could do the other threading codes by hand as they are not too hard to do and insert them into the generated Gcode - it would just be nice to have a system that worked properly.

Hi All
I run some test cuts over the weekend and can confirm that when I try to run G76 Mach4 freezes. I don't often have to cut threads but when I do it would be handy to be able to. I have made some improvements to my control panel using the PMC to handle the signals from it and I am not sure that it will still work if I go back to version 4300 as the PMC has changed since then.

Thanks Tweakie
I use a HiCON Integra on the lathe, but read the smooth stepper forum as I have a smooth stepper on my mill. I was wondering if the G76 issue is a Mach 4  one or a smooth stepper one. I guess I might just do some air cuts today and see if it works.
Thanks again
Steve
