General Mach Discussion / Re: Spindle at speed signal
« on: October 23, 2010, 07:43:28 PM »
I had a macropump a while back that looked at True spindle and Requested spindle speeds over a 5 second or so period and if it was out by a certain % it would fault Mach. Problem I had was it worked fine as long as ModBUS was not enabled but just wouldnt work if it was, because I needed Modbus it was no use to me and Brian never fixed the problem as far as I know.
Not sure if I still have it but if you think it would be of use I can do some searching of the old hard drives I have here.
Hood

Hood I would like to get that from you if you don't mind. :)  As of now i just have it wait a few seconds before driving the axises allowing time for spin up of the spindle. I would love to have mach notice true spindle speed vs the commanded speed and if its out by a set % then it will estop. I am not using ModBUS.

Thanks,

Wes

Has this ever been update since what was posted here? Seams like version v3.042.033 is the latest one to run correctly for threading on a lathe. I would love to use this flash screenset however I am unable to view the toolpath. The window shows "Tool1" then goes black when I have G-code loaded. Looks like this is the only bug. I would love to fix this issue or find an updated version.

Bernie,

Best to start a new topic for this question.

I guess I will stick with 033 then. Any issues that you are aware of using windows 7 x86?

Wondering if there is an updated version of mach from v3.042.033 that works with threading (Turn mode). I am also thinking about using Windows 7 on the new computer hardware. Are there any issues or things I must do differently from windows xp? Any reasons why I should stick with xp or does it matter? I will be using a 32 bit version of 7.

Feature Requests / Re: New Spindle Output Option
« on: October 14, 2010, 10:02:23 PM »
I was working on this a while back. Basically it took Machs spindle PWM output and converted it from a 1ms (stopped) to 2ms signal (Full speed). This would allow a hobby speed controller to act as a drive for a brush less motor spindle. Then you were able to add a rpm sensor and even use the PID built into mach to set and maintain speed. I was  also adding phase control with 2 relays so you can switch 2 of the 3 wires around and get cw and ccw control. The hardware was a pic micro with lcd to display output. If there is enough interest I will see what I can do to continue finishing it.

So SetOemDRO(223,25) would only set the rapid speed to 25% and it wont affect the feed rates in any way correct? This is what I am looking for. Also is the a way to display what they are set at?  Maybe use the same dro as a display?

Think I figured it out. DRO 104

On my Haas machines I have the ability to set the rapid movement speeds to 5% - 100% by pressing a button on the control. I want to know if this is possible on mach by say... editing the screen set and adding those buttons. Basically if I hit the 5% rapid button it sets my rapid speed to 5% of the max feed rate. I would like to create a 5, 25, 50 and 100% button. This is very useful for testing new programs. Helps avoid crashing the machine. Anyone know a way to do this?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach 3 turn constant sfm?

Thanks hood. So I just need to make sure its in my G code. Nothing else in mach setup that I need to turn on? You dont happen to know when I can locate a post for mastercam X4 turn? Thats what I use at work so would love to use that to program my retrofit too.
