A useful test would be to test if things are different on mach 3.43.6.
That would help Brian know where to look.
I believe that mach 3.43.6 is available from the DL page via the archived releases link near the top of the page.

Note: MSM will not run on 3.43.6 - if you try, it will check the mach version and tell you to upgrade mach before MSM will run.
Therefore to get bck to MSM, you'll need to reinstall mach 3.43.10+

Hi,

This thread is where we'll be putting MachStdMill release announcements.
If you want to be notified of MSM releases, turn notification on for this thread.

Hi Mick,
I'm not trying to be mean or anything - but the insistence on manually loading the wrong set file did remind me of that old joke:
"Doctor, it hurts when I do this.... well, don't do that..."   :D

I gather you are running the 10x7 resolution - the Feed and Spindle override sliders would not fit on the 10x7 run screen. However, they are on the fly out (Feed rate, spindle RPM and Rapid Override) - which makes them available at all times, no matter what page you are on.
The Run page does have "override active" LEDs on it - so that even if the fly out is not visible, you can see at a glance that they are set at something other than 100%.

If you run the 12x9 resolution, there was enough space to also place the FR and RPM override sliders on the run page.

Thanks for coming back, and now i am well and truly chastised :-[

The new layouts and functions are very impressive,
what little time iv'e had to play with MSM the only thing i'm not comfortable with, is the lack of feed control on run screen.
my next step is to load MSM onto the workshop pc to try out probing, ect

I'L save your kind offer to talk over the phone until  ! if ! when i get into more trouble.

      Thanks    Mick.

Mick,

Please excuse me while I be very straight forward: I think you need to review the prior posts I made in this thread.
Apparently I am not communicating well as I have not gotten the message across yet.

The ONLY set file that should be loaded with MSM is c:\Mach3\MachStdMill.set

Never attempt to load any other set file. Honest, please believe me, I know what I'm talking about here.
Trying to load machstdmill-v3-10x7.set IS THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEMS you are seeing.
As I have posted said before, you should NOT be trying to do that!
Please forget that you ever discovered any other set files put on the disk by MSM.

BTW, My offer to talk via phone is still good...

Dave

Dave,
i have finally got MSM up and running :D,but only by hideing the tool bar.

evey time i try to load the machstdmill-v3-10*7 set the #expand error shows.

                 thanks mick.

Hi,
I know two sources for the current rev programmer's manual -

1) MSM installs a full set of manuals - so it's avail form the ref page of MSM
2) It's also avail from the machsupport documentation page
Here is a direct link
http://machsupport.com/docs/Mach3_V3.x_Macro_Prog_Ref.pdf

FYI, Some people are also referring folks to a thread with an early draft that Ray did last year, that thread attachment does not have the additional info for the new APIs.

Hi,
Some have expressed and interest in seeing some sample screen shots before DL'ing the entire MSM package.
So, here are a couple of teaser pics.

I don't know how to be of assistance on this one - I used firefox to DL the file, saved it and ran it w/o problem.
Scott at Machsupport handles the mach servers etc - maybe he can help - I'll point him to this thread.

Hi Steve,

1) Yes, the brains installed with MSM are required for proper operation.
(I'll bet you expected that answer   ;) )
The MSM brains drive the display of several LEDs in the MSM screens.
One of the MSM brains is an integrated part of the handling of the tool change sequence.

2) Thank you for attaching the brain that you are trying to use with MSM.
Please understand that at this point in the program, I'm a bit of a one man show here and I don't really have the time required to look into a brain you got from a 3rd party to see what it does.

I did take a 10 second look - but what it is trying to do was not immediately obvious to me.
The MSM brains don't have anything to do with the MDI control. IN fact, other than putting MDI control on a screen page, MSM has no control over what the MDI control does.

I suggest that you do some more basic problem area testing as your net step.
Determine if the interaction you are seeing is Mach or MSM related. Does it work with mach 3.43.10 and the 1024 screens?

Dave

Hi Dave

I have been enjoying learning to use your new screen set - thank you for all the hard work that you have put into it.

1: May I ask what the included brains are used for and do they have to be enabled for your screen to function as it should do? (Please excuse me if the answer is in your documentation - I haven't found mention of them yet).

2: My brain I use for feedrate and spindle speed overrides (borrowed from Hood) cause the MDI line to deactivate before I get a chance to type in it!  (It works through a PoKeys 55 and works fine on the other screens set I have used) Would you have any ideas why this may be happening - I have attached the brain concerned and I look forward to your comments.

Thanks
Steve
