General Mach Discussion / Re: Need help with Mach3 USB setup
« on: March 26, 2022, 06:17:26 AM »
When you say "I cannot get the motor to run" do you mean an axis stepper or the spindle?

Could you provide links to the product web pages rather than just hints so we can wee exactly what you have?

Have you gone into the "Config Plugins" menu in Mach3 and enabled the USB plugin?  I think the step rate on the interface board is 100 kHz - is this also set in Mach 3?

Though you say that there are no limit or home switches the webpage for the product has this statement "Note: An additional power source is required for the limit switches and spindle portion of the board." - have you connected that?  (https://buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-electronic-component-breakout-Mach3-USB-Board)

Do you have a copy of the Mach3 manual, and have you checked that all the port and pin assignments are correct (despite the xml files provided)?  Also a copy of the manual for the USB interface board?  Have you asked the supplier for help?

I don't understand what you mean by "the VFD he has a wire on the FOR post the DCM the ACM and the V1I ".  If the C41 is the device from CNC4PC then the manual is here:

https://www.cnc4pc.com/pub/media/productattachments/files/c41s-r1.1_user_manual_v1.pdf

With that and the Mac3 manual from NFS you should be able to work it out.

Without knowing more about the hardware you have it's hard to advise.

Cut speed should be set in the g code command using the f parameter.   The configuration motor tuning speed is for rapids, ie the G0 speed.  In the homing/limits configuration screen you can select the homing speed as a %ge of the rapid speed iirc.

Look at the pin inputs on the diagnostic screen and check they light up when you ground the pins.  Have you selected active low for the pins?

That's what I meant.

It says that the licence is specific to a computer which I think is the same as for Mach3.  But if the same computer runs different versions (non-concurrently) it may be fine.  But ask NFS support or sales, they should be able to give you a definitive answer.

Well the prices are on the NFS website.

Yes, so the delay must be as a result of the way G81 is implemented in the G code interpreter/motion controller rather than intrinsic to F360.
