General Mach Discussion / 3D probe

Hi all, the 3D probe shown in the attached photo is being sold on the web by several vendors, ranging from AliExpress through eBay to CNC system sellers.  It looks quite nice, having only a 6mm shank and being quite short so good for machines with limited daylight.

Does anyone have any experience with these they could share please?

IIRC, if you just unzip them and put 'em in your Macro folder, then you can run by clicking on Operator/VB Script editor/ then navigate to the Macro folder, open export.m1s, find the macro and load it and click run (green right arrow).  As far as I recall it's super quick and you'll find the file at C:\mach3\ToolTable.txt - or run Import and it will look for the same file and import (with edits you have applied if any).  Buttons would be cool if you think you'll be using them frequently.

Here you go.  Zip has both export and import, I think to text files.

Tool table export macro is available somewhere here.  Also import.  I have copies, can post them if you can't find them on the forum.  Why the the table uses such an arcane format and not something simple like .txt or .csv is a mystery.

Yes, the BoB probably has 5v logic.  A simple potential divider with 4k7 to the 7.5v output and 10k to ground should fix it.

Yes you should be able to upgrade. I moved fro an old Dell xp desktop to a Win10 mini PC almost without changing anything.  I just had to add a USB motion controller and its plugin.  That's probably why the win11 machine didn't work, it would need the appropriate plugin.

Glad it's working.  Sounds like an electrical spike is getting into the estop wiring from the spindle perhaps.
