General Mach Discussion / Re: USB and Mach
« on: January 15, 2010, 06:14:11 PM »
Just for reference:
I just looked in my computer and see that I have the ZIP file: SmoothStepperUSBDriver 2.06.00 saved 12/11/09
I went to Mach3 ==> PlugIn Control and it shows up as: SmoothStepper Beta2 Ver 0.015ogx Config
My board is Ver 1.2
I use a keyboard emulator Pendant and the Start/Pause and Stop work as normal.
Hope this helps.

I'm one of the people who have purchased a SS from Jeff Birt and have been using it now for about two months with no problems. I'm running Visa OS & Mach3, so no idea about other controller software.

Hi,

My name is Jim and I'm very new to CNC, but I'm learning fast starting with this Forum.  ;)

I've been machining at home since 1989 and have a 9x48 Bridgeport and a 17 X 60 AFM (Polish) lathe as my main machines.
Getting tired of spinning cranks, so I've purchased a Taig CNC ready mill along with a combo Soigeneris SmoothStepper/G540 USB setup to immerse myself into the world of CNC.

I went through a four year machinist's apprenticeship and spent several years as a Manufacturing Engineer after getting my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering.
I'm now working as one of those IT people that play with Cisco routers and such. It looks like a steep learning curve with Mach3, but I'm motivated to learn and this Forum is my savior at the moment.

Looking forwards to learning as mush as possible from all the talented people in this forum.

Jim
