General Mach Discussion / Re: Hall of shame

As a re-seller I share the sentiments and views of this topic.  I would like to see that a system be put in place where the re-seller can purchase the license and register it to his customers name himself. This way I can ensure that the license I installed or sold to a customer is reported and logged against my name. This is the only real proof that a re-seller has. I keep a copy of every license sold under the customers name in my folder. Unfortunately there is only a serial number so it is difficult to trace afterwards.

When we purchase licenses, I send Scott an email with the name of the customer.  He then emails the license which displays the customer name in the title bar.  I also keep all customers licenses on file.  I don't know if Scott keeps a record of who the license was sold by.

I tried that, but isMoving() evaluates false any time the machine is stopped or paused.  If the machine is stopped with no program running and LED 65 is on, that statement would evaluate true.  He's trying to determine if the machne is pause as a result of an M01.

Pretty rare that you find something that can't be done in Mach3, but I don't see any way to tell if you are paused in an M01.  You could look at the M01 LED while at the same time checking for motion, but then you'd have to somehow determine if you were stopped or paused under other circumstances.

There is a "Pause Active LED" (80) and "Pause LED" (805).  If either of those is on during an M01 pause, checking for either one of those AND "optional stop on" (65)  would tell you if you were paused with optional stop turned on.

Mach can talk to the Arduino through the serial port.  The are functions in Cypress Enable to send data, but you can't receive data.  Mach has Modbus IO capability.  I don't know what would be involved in setting up the Arduino to use the Modbus protocol.

Could also just turn off Mach3 THC mode.

What are the specs on the motors?  Voltage, current and inductance?

The feedrate should be modal.  Changing/setting the feedrate on every line will cause a slight hesitation.  It takes time to set the feedrate.  Feedrate should be modal and called on the first feedrate line.  Unless Mach4 decreases the time it takes to process a gcode line, I doubt it will be any different.

General Mach Discussion / Re: LPT Port Power

Installing another parallel port will not by default turn off the on-board port.  The documentation that came with the card you installed should tell you what the TTL voltage levels are, but if you're still reading 3.3+- from the new port, it's TTL output is probably 3.3V.  To figure out the address that it's installed at, find it in device manager.

Add an parallel card to the PC that outputs 5V.  Output will either be 3.3V or 5V.  Older electronics don't seem to like 3.3V where most of the stuff out there today of decent quality support both.
