General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 randomly pausing
« on: March 04, 2014, 08:56:02 AM »
I have experienced a similar issue.  It only occurs when laser engraving a large file (+30MB ?), and only when the file is finished on the final X0/Y0 moves.  I use Windows 7 64 bit/4GB and a UC100 USB adapter.  My suspicion is perhaps Mach3 is resetting the buffer to the beginning of the file by reading from the hard drive.  This is only a guess as it does not happen often enough to confirm, and never happens during engraving.  Driver test is good and solid.

Any commonalities?

I can't let this latest example of customer service from Gecko Inc. go by without public acknowledgement.

I had three bad Gecko stepper motor drivers, all out of warranty (in fact two were about 9 years old), so I contacted Gecko to inquire about inspection and repair.  Following Gecko's instructions, I sent them in about three weeks ago, along with my credit card info to cover fully anticipated repair and return shipping costs.

Today, to my very pleasant surprise, I received a no-charge email invoice showing that they were being returned in working condition.  All three had been rendered inoperative due to my wiring mistakes, and all three required replacement parts.

So, a very special thank you to Mr. Mariss Freimanis and his Gecko staff, for their outstanding service and unbeatable products.

With Sincere Appreciation,
John Champlain

Well, a warped screw and slight play in bearings might explain it.  Would probably not be noticeable when using a spindle.  Does it change when switching from a horizontal engraving to a vertical?

Are you perhaps using all thread rod (machine screw thread) for lead screws?

You need to be designing for Orange County Choppers.  ;D

Excellent work, Shaun.

I have both wired and wireless controllers.  I like the wireless better for freedom of movement, but the short on time sucks.  It seems it has always turned itself off when I want to use it.  I have found no way to change the on time.  Never had or suspected any interference with the wireless in +4 years of use.  Never checked its range.

If it doesn't specifically say it will work with Mach3, and include plug-in software, it will not work.
