General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 executing commands not issued
« on: April 15, 2014, 09:00:10 AM »
I recall reading somewhere that external motion controllers (SS ,UC100, etc.) command the DRO readings, not Mach3.   Can anyone confirm?

If true, perhaps you could be experiencing electrical noise issues.

Adrian,
Sure looks like a big step backwards from Mach3 to me.  They certainly have their markets, but have no where near the features found in M3.

Mike,
I have used three Dell GX270s, and they all ran Mach3 well, BUT, the capacitors on the motherboard are prone to going bad, especially considering their present age.  All three are now kaput.  As far as the license goes, buy one from a refurbishing dealer who will supply OEM/restore disks with the computer.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Z calibration all along y axis?

Luke,
Best to fix the machine, but you can experiment with a formula (Function Cfg's > Formulas).  I have done this in the past to fix an out of square gantry.   It may work OK for you, but other issues may limit a formula's use.

Ex: f(z) = z + (y * n)  - where n is the degree of change applied to z as y changes

Try this.
Go to the Mach3 folder - locate the driver test file.
Right click it.
Select Run as Administrator.

Windows 7 can have some odd file privileges that inhibit some files from running easily.

On large files, it is advisable to turn off the tool path display.  Some problems as you report can occur otherwise.

I engraved this yesterday.  The original is 9 x 7 inches, and took right at 3 hours.

Ron,
I have replied in another thread, but what Lookahead value are you using?
