General Mach Discussion / 24 volt proximity switches
« on: July 08, 2011, 03:10:15 AM »
Hi Everyone I need some help
I am converting a Chinese router from DSP controller to Mach 3 , I have a BOB and speed control board from Peter Homann as well as the 5volt power supply for these, originally the machine was fitted with SN04-N 24 volt proximity switches which have their own power supply. I want to keep these and was advised to use an Opto22 G4PB4 board and G4IDC modules as an interface between the 24 volt side and the 5volt Breakout Board.
I am not the worlds most brilliant at electronics and cant seem to get the wiring set up that I get a 24v signal in one side and 5v out the other? Can someone give me some easy to follow directions please?

General Mach Discussion / Re: VFD and motor voltages

The lathe is in the works at the moment, I have the VFD and motor and am still researching the other bits and pieces, at the same time I am converting a Chinese quick CNC router to Mach 3, just about ready to get into it, I have all the bits and pieces here, I am just a bit unsure how to wire some of it up. The original setup used 24 volts for the limits and controls and I have an Opto 22 board and modules to put in so I can still use the 24 volt side of the system, just trying to work out how that fits into the system.

I just got a motor from Royce Cross in SA that will run from a VFD as per all the discussion here, just go to their site and look at the specifications for the motors, or ring them they are very helpful. Freight to my place was around 27.00 and it arrived in three days.

Hi
My Name is Will Bleeker, I am a trade qualified Fitter and Machinist over the years I have done many different things including Potato growing, truck driving and Blasting, We now run our families Pie Shop in Robertson NSW Australia. I have an extensive workshop which recently became home to a Tormach PCNC110 to help me teach myself CNC, which I am still learning! Well any way the bug has bitten well and truly,I have just bought an AL54B lathe to CNC, so I will be asking a few question here as well as following the NZ conversion on here.
