Tweakie thanks for the reply. The reason I don't config my parallel port to use the A axis is that my controller isn't setup for a 4th axis. I was hoping to use a different controller for a 4th axis config to work with the parallel port. Thanks again for the reply.

General Mach Discussion / How to use a 4th axis on a 3 Axis system
« on: July 19, 2014, 11:39:47 PM »
Hi there, just wondering if there is a way to use a 4th axis on a 3 axis system. My system is only setup to handle 3 axis. I would like to use a 4th axis. So is there anyway to do this. I thought that maybe I could use a single motion controller connected to a USB port. I use Mach 3 and use the parallel port to run the 3 axis'. So is it possible to run the 4th axis on the USB port at the same time I use the parallel port to run the x,y,z axis'? Or any other suggestions? Thanks.

Well it seems the problem has taken care of itself. I will post the g code if it does it again. Thanks everyone for your help.

I assume to take up some backlash is to adjust my mill or do it with the mach software. Also it seems if I don't do a complete circle it arcs fine. When I do a complete circle it is always egg shaped at the north and south points on the circle.

General Mach Discussion / Z axis moves down after program ends

Hello all, I've been using Mach software for some time now,(Since Mach 2) but haven't really done much with setting up Mach software. So my problem is this. My Z axis moves very freely. When I reach the end of the G code program the motors shutoff and the z axis will move down which will lose my z "0". I use BobCad/Cam to generate my G & M codes. I have tried to eliminate the M30 code but it still shuts off the axis'. I'm sure it's a post processing problem but not sure how to correct it. I also would like to point out that when I choose the Mach 3 post processor in BobCad/Cam my milling machine has a few issues, like making a big looping motion before it will start the programed cut. However if I chose the Mach 2 post processor and delete the first line in the G code program, it works properly except at the end of the program when the motors shutoff and I lose my Z axis "0". One other thing I'm having an issue with is the smoothness of cutting an arc. I thought i read some where that using Mach 2 this was normal, but with Mach 3 the issue has been resolved. If so what do i need to do to make the arcs smooth instead of egg shaped. Thanks for your help!!!!

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: Copy Cat version upgrade - HELP!!!

Thanks for the response Rich. It is greatly appreciated. I did some comparing between my files and licenses location and found out that I needed to add the license for NFS in the addons folder. It worked like a champ. Thanks again for your help!!!

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Copy Cat version upgrade - HELP!!!
« on: January 30, 2013, 11:21:39 PM »
Hi there, this is my first post on here, but have been a member for years. It's always been helpful and I've always been able to fix my problems with a little reading. However for the life of me I can't seem to find the answer this time. First I have two milling machines running by Mach 3. One of the mills has been running Mach 2 on a laptop, now I've upgraded to a desktop and I've recently upgraded to Mach 3. On my other mill I've been running Mach 3 for years with New Fangled Solutions addon (licensed). On this machine I have the Copycat addon installed with the probe button on the main screen (Version 1.1). Now to the newly updated machine, I've gotten just about everything the way I want it, however when I load the Copycat screen it doesn't have the probe button (version 1). So there lies my problem. How do I get the latest version of Copycat on to my newly upgraded Mach 3?

First I want to say that I've copied my license data onto the newly updated computer. I tried to copy the Copycat folder and pasted it in the Mach3/Addons folder. Renamed the old file, before I copied the newer version into the Addons folder. No luck, I then Deleted both Copycat files, pasted the newer version of Copycat in the addon folder. No luck. So here are a few of the questions I have?

1) Are the newer NFS addons included in the downloaded Mach 3 from the Mach 3 website. If not were do I get the newer download and how do I install them on my system?

2) Is my NFS License good for more than one computer or do I need to order another license?

3) Is the newer version of Copycat included in the NFS Addon or is it separately downloaded?

4) Just checking, were do I paste the License in the Mach folder?

Well I would like to say thanks in advance for any help I can get here.
