Finished Screens / Re: 4 axis hot wire foam cutter screen

Nice screen.  Curious, how do you generate the gcode to use with it?

Am fiddling with a 4 axis cutter now, have an old MM2001 and was going to use GMFC, but wondering if I should just go with mach and a 'normal' controller.

Craig, yeah I bought a j1800 itx board that is similar, dual core celeron.  Just got it running yesterday, went with win 7 32 bit because I am using the PP.   So far seems to run ok.

The fact of the matter is that it's just not possible to do what Mach3 does on a 64 bit OS.

WHAT?

That doesn't make a bit of sense.  How on earth would a 64bit OS not be able to handle what a 32 bit OS can do?

Yeah, I did a bit of digging and it seems that requirement is no longer valid for modern machines.

What really kills me is the 'non-integrated video card)... is that really going to make things not run correctly?    Does anyone run all this on the integrated video?    Can't put together a lower power mini-itx in a small box AND have a non-integrated video card.   Kind of a pain in the butt.

So the answer is:  No.

Nothing has changed in 9 years.  Thanks.

Have an old PC running mach 3 for my cnc router.  Every now and then having issues booting it up.  So was looking to replace it, but wanted to see if newer versions of mach 3 are now better with newer pc support.  I know previously it was no 64 bit windows, and loads of issues with pci parallel ports vs on board ports.  Just wondering if all that remains the same as years ago.

Great stuff, have been considering putting together a foam machine like this, just a bit limited on space with my cnc router filling most of my space.    What software do you use to create the shapes and set up the cuts in mach?

Thanks.   Another one done today, about 5x5 inches..

I am back at using my machine.  Taking a bit of a different approach to the lithos, working on fine resolution in smaller images.   This one is 2.5" by about 3.3" ... and I love the detail, wisps of hair, facial details I couldn't get using a 1/16 BN...
