Galil / Windows 7 and Galil
« on: December 13, 2011, 11:59:09 AM »
Having trouble getting a DMC2030 to work correctly with Windows 7. I have a USB and serial port on the DMC but can only connect with the serial. When I do connect with serial when I try to do a BGX command I get an error "TC5" saying the input buffer is full. I can read encoder position and poll other info, but cannot make any moves. I have seen a command running "QR" so something must be happening from this to fill the buffer. This controller used to be hooked up to an XP machine thru USB with Mach 3 and all worked very well. I'm sure the controller is good unless Win 7 has done something. I wonder if Mach has any residual commands running on the galil that don't show up? I seem to have no program on the controller but with the buffer full when I do "LI" to list threads I get the TC5 buffer full message again. I guess I will go back to XP and see what happens. Galil says it may be a USB driver issue with Win 7 but does that explain the serial message about the buffer?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks, Allen

Galil / Remote Pendant for Galil
« on: October 26, 2010, 01:36:50 PM »
Have an MPG 101B but since that won't work with a USB Galil controller, what kind of pendants are other people using and what would you recommend? I will probably sell my 101 and buy what will work. Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Z Axis help
« on: March 05, 2009, 01:13:49 PM »
Hello, I have a plasma cutter and I would like to have the Z axis reference to a switch, which I now have and works, but I would like Z to retract to a position rather than just back off the switch. I have a floating head, and the people that are going to operate the machine I know will forget to raise the head before making moves. What is the best way to home Z, and then have it back up a certain amount after backing off the switch?

Thanks

Galil / Mach and Galil still flakey
« on: August 25, 2008, 01:34:34 PM »
From the post below a week ago, I thought I found my problem. I dont think now I have. I start Mach, it sees the Galil and as soon as I try a move, it gives me a "#4 operand error" message. Usually now, none of my motors will move. They are disabled and the DRO's dont even change. I can cold boot the computer, start Galil's Smart Terminal, and tune the motors, drive them hard all over the place and I get NO errors of any kind. As soon as I start Mach again, I get the error and no movement. I can shut down Mach, and the same error still shows in Smart Terminal. I have to do a cold shut down to get Smart Terminal to move the motors again. It appears Mach is still telling the Galil card to do something it doesnt like.
I can do a trace in Smart terminal, and it hasn't told me anything.

Galil / Mach causing Galil to shut off motors
« on: August 11, 2008, 12:35:11 PM »
New problem that just started this weekend. I have a Galil 1842 and Mach, was working fine but now when I try to jog x or y on the main page, or try to run a program, I get the message "begin not valid with motor off" or something close. I go to MDI page and I can move the x and y. I can also move them fine in Smart Terminal. When this happend on the main page, the X DRO shows about 1/2 an inch of movement, but the motor instantly shuts off and there is no motor movement at all. This just started all of a sudden and I am sure I have not changed any settings. I verify that the motors are shut off in Smart Terminal, I have to do an SH to get them back on. It doesnt seem to affect the Z axis. I can still jog it from the main page. Somehow, Mach is giving Galil the MO command on x and y as soon as I try to jog or run a program.

VB and the development of wizards / Pop up numeric keypad in VB
« on: August 06, 2008, 01:08:40 PM »
I'm sure this has come up before. Does anyone know of code to have a numeric keypad pop up when you click on a text box, enter a value in the keypad and have that value display in the text box and become a named variable?
I have been searching all over and can't find anything.
I am using VB6.
Thanks

Third party software and hardware support forums. / Rebuilding computer
« on: August 03, 2008, 10:33:49 PM »
I had to format my hard drive and start over. Now Mach says my Gallil card does not connect after a reset. I have Galil tools on the computer and that sees the 1842 card ok. I notice my amps are not enabled which I suppose is because the Galil card isn't connected to Mach. Any ideas?

General Mach Discussion / Specialized application
« on: January 18, 2008, 01:29:57 PM »
Hello,
Here is what I need to have happen.
Program starts, relay 1 goes on, relay 2 is off and waiting for an input 1 to change.
Relay 1 then goes off and relay 2 goes on.
Then I wait for input 2.
Input 2 is tripped then relay 1 and 2 go off, wait for x to move a distance as input by the operator.
After x finishes the move, relay 1 comes on, relay 2 stays off and we wait for input 1 again.
I have a macro to do the I/O part which works, however I need to understand how to get a variable input box
into the macro as an x move distance.

I think this will all be gone in a macro which I call.
Any suggestions?

Thanks, Allen

Galil / Galil Status
« on: January 09, 2007, 12:50:35 PM »
Brian,
I am now ready to change from my Gecko system back to an 1842 Galil PCI with full
servo control. Never had good luck running my motors with the Geckos,
my motors like a higher voltage. Anyway, what is the status of the
Galil interface with Mach 3? I am just now starting to play around
with the Galil and Mach. This weekend I am rewiring everything and
going back to my AMC drives. I will be ready for Mach and Galil to
work together and run programs if possible. Have you gotten to the g
code conversions? Can you give me a clue as to what works and what you
may be working on in the future, and is the Galil interface going as
good as you had hoped?

Thank you,
Allen
