General Mach Discussion / Softlimit update by macro
« on: August 01, 2010, 05:44:21 PM »
Dear Fellowes,

My today's Problem is on a mill using Mach3 version 3.042.040:

I would like to adjust the Z minimum softlimit (OEMDro 158) by M6END toolchang macro, to make it (nearly) impossible to scratch the machine table ;-)

After doing the adjustment, OEMDro 158 is changed to the new value, but mach3 still uses the previous "Z minimum" value.

When opening the "homing and limits" menu, I find the new value entered by the macro. After closing "homing and limits" again by "OK" button, the machine's behaviour is correct, it uses the new value then.

Another way is to shutdown the Mach3 software and start it again, also then, the new value is effective.  (However, just pushing the "Reset" button is not enough...)

Is there a way to force Mach3 to do the update of softlimit values correctly?

Thanks a lot for yout input :-)

Konrad

Maybe it's too early...

May I be the next one to ask again when it will happen?   ::)    ;D

Yeah, test suites, only to be run just in styrofoam   ::)   ;D

On the other hand, I have to mention that my personal micro-lathe is still in eeaarly construction stage (Z-Axis finally made some test-moves just last weekend...), and it will take some more months to get it all to work.
But when it's up and running, it's well spent time to "donate" some hours of work to this project.

So, should we start to collect what is worth to test?

Brian ---> we are doing this to be prepared for the lauch of v4   >:D

Maybe, the community needs some reference G-code, which has to deliver a known behaviour...

For example CSS, threading and so on...

Hi Folks!

Does anybody know what the changes in .036 and .037 are?

When nothing is written in the changelog, it's not easy to decide, without knowing what works now and what stopped working    ;D

This is from another thread in this forum:

> Just to let everyone know version 3.042.029, 3.042.034, 3.042.035, 3.042.036 do not thread right at all!

Maybe, you should just try v3.042.033....?

"As I understood from the documents, Timing is no longer supported starting from version R3.042.030."

What I wanted to say:

As I understood from the documents, "Timing" is no longer supported starting from version R3.042.030, while you have to use "Index" input

So, my lathe ist still in construction...   ::)

But on the other hand, I am quite interested what's going on with lathe. So I will be able to get it to run quickly when mechanical thing are completed...

Just one question:
Are you using Index or Timing input for sensing the spindle?

As I understood from the documents, Timing is no longer supported starting from version R3.042.030.

Hello,

for the software, the wireing of the steppers is not relevant. So, nothing to change.

But on the other hand: changing the wiring from parallel to serial will cause a loss in torque, and even more remarkable, in maximum speed. This is due to the increased inductivity when wiring the two parts of the coils in serial.

Next question: Doesn't the driver board have a current regulation, which should have been protecting the driver from being damaged?
