Mach4 General Discussion / Re: SetVN

I think the printing of math expressions is controlled by the check box that
controls all comments being printed in the status message area. See:

Config > Mach > General

Look in the Misc section near top right and check the box beside:

"Include Comments in Messages"

Also, the keyboard plugin has been getting more work. It really did not
like XP. New version coming real soon now.

I have just tested ganging the home, neg limit, and pos limit switches all on the same input and it works as it should in Build 2522 and 2568. If the signal is active you cannot jog or otherwise move the axis if Limits Override is not turned on. When you turn on Limits Override jogging works fine in both directions. It is true that Mach4 does not try to figure out which way the axis was moving when the limit condition occurred. This is not practical because the machine could be powered up with the limit switch already active, or a limit could trip due to vibration even with no axis motion if it was very near the trip point.

The previous poster's description of a "custom name" is a requirement imposed by the ESS plug-in. This is not a "problem" in Mach4. It does not apply to the PMDX SmartBOB because all signal names are already custom names and they will appear in the Mach input configuration dialogs where they can be used for multiple functions without further effort on the user's part.

Tell us more about your system, what version of Mach, what hardware interface?

Where did you install the filter?

What message is in the status line at the bottom of the screen when Mach stops?

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 License transfer
« on: July 15, 2015, 11:01:20 AM »
If you purchased your license on line at Machsupport.com you can log into your
account and go the license maintenance page. It will have a place where you
can paste in a new PCID and get a new license. Make sure your email address
is valid so you get the email with the license.

If you purchased your license from a reseller, contact the reseller for assistance.

You are allowed to have up to 5 valid licenses. If you have licenses that are
for machines that no longer exist, you can disable them on the same page.

I mentioned this in another thread, but felt it deserved its own topic.

Improvements on the Mach software support front may at last be coming on line.

Two new guys have started working for ArtSoft in Maine. One is working to build
up a real support facility. The other will be helping with testing.

The first glimpse of things to come can be seen here:

http://machremote.dyndns.org:8080/

I don't know why the funny URL, but this is a real link from the "Contact Us"
page on the MachSupport.com web site. It is an on line bug and support
ticket tracking system. The Knowledge Base has been seeded with a few
items, but the rest seems virgin at this time.

If you have a VFD driven spindle or a spindle motor with brushes, the chances
are good that there is enough electrical interference to cause the problems
that you are seeing.

Normally the maximum velocity and acceleration are configured based on the
capabilities of the machine, not the job at hand. Process variations such as you
describe are normally handled by feedrate (F word) commands in the G code
itself.

Check to be sure that Mach4 has recognized your license key. The behavior
that you describe sounds somewhat like running in Demo mode.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: need a little bit of help

silly question what are semaphores

Semaphore is probably not the correct name in the Lua environment, but a semaphore
is a way for one thread to signal to other threads that it is done.
