Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach 4 not following toolpath
« on: November 13, 2018, 05:35:46 PM »
You can use G61 in your program to force exact stop mode, i.e. no blending.

G64 will turn constant velocity back on.

You can configure the default mode using the screen at-   Config>Control  using the
General tab, look down the left side for Motion Mode.

Machine configuration of max allowed acceleration is on the pages at-  Config>Control
using the Motors tab. Hi-light the desired motor on the right side and then you can
edit the numbers in the Acceleration and Velocity numbers below. Be sure to write
down the current numbers before changing anything.

If you are running an older install of Mach4 you may need to look at-  Config>Mach
instead of-  Config>Control.

This might be happening because the acceleration values for the machine
configuration are causing excessive blending in corners while operating in
constant velocity mode. Try using exact stop mode or slow down the
cutting velocity to see if you get different results. Since you can see this
on screen, you could test while cutting air.

Because it does not employ HTTPS for connection. The web site was recently
updated and the main site is now HTTPS, but the forum is not yet HTTPS
because the forum software must be updated, and that is not as simple as
it sounds. As long as your password is not the same as you use on more
sensitive sites, it is not a big deal. The old version of the web site was not
HTTPS at all.

Make sure that you do not have the step and the direction signal swapped with each other.

If they are, then a single direction change could sound like the single click you are hearing.

Finding the support forum from the main web site is not intuitive.

You can find it from the site map at the bottom, but if you use
the Support Tab at the top, you do not get a link to the forum.

I would have expected to see the forum links under the "Self
Directed" help section.

Also, the continued mention of there being a "new" Version 2
of Mach4 confuses people into thinking there has been a recent
change whereas this happened a couple of years ago.

The motion controller must use buffering to assure smooth uninterrupted motion.

It is up to the motion controller vendor to decide how much buffer. The motion
controller asks Mach4 for a packet of date and specifies the update rate and how
much data to provide. Mach4 does not send complete G code type motions to
the motion controller. Motion is broken down into many many small segments
typically only a few milliseconds long each. Thus it is Mach4 that determines
if two motions can proceed at the same time, and to provide that motion as
simultaneous small segments.

Yes, please try to find the link.

Mach4Lite? I was under the impression that this product was never offered for sale,
only Mach4Hobby and Mach4Industrial.

Note that the Hobby version of Mach4 allows only one OB axis. If your
configuration uses OB to implement the spindle, you cannot also use
it for your turret. OB spindles are ones that use step and direction to
run a stepper or servo as the spindle motor.
