Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 Printer Port Discussions
« on: December 04, 2018, 08:49:00 AM »
Since your laptop does not have a parallel port, you will need an external
device to interface to the G540. The UC100 and other devices such as
the PoKeys57CNCd25  and the PMDX-411 serve this purpose. You do
not need the Legacy Parallel Port software plugin for Mach4. Each of
the devices listed above will include its own plugin for Mach4.

Not sure what you mean by "Money, Money, Money". There is no
fee for moving licenses or issuing additional licenses up to 5 total
using the License Maintenance function on the web site.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Hybrid Stepper Setup in M4
« on: December 01, 2018, 06:12:45 PM »
While I agree with Craig that anything finer than 8 micro steps per full step
is wishful thinking, it is possible to run at higher step rates using a device
with step pulse generators in dedicated hardware. The SmoothStepper
is one example. It can produce steps at up to 4 MHz.

For Mach4 you will need to install Mach4 in demo mode and get the
PCID of the new computer. Then log into your account at Machsupport.com
and go to the License Maintenance page to issue yourself a new license.

There is a video of the process here:

If you do not have an account at Machsupport.com because your license
was provided directly by a reseller, you will need to contact that reseller
for assistance. This mode was common back in 2014 and 2015 but was
later replaced by self managed licenses for most users.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Torch Height Control

The basic Proma box will not work with current versions of Mach4 to do the THC function.

The Proma S/D model should work since it generates the step and direction signals for
torch motion itself.

We have sent aa1piham an e-mail with instructions about how to
work with PMDX to transition to a self managed license.

Yours is likely an older license from the era when licenses were issued
manually. If this is the case you will need to contact the vendor who
sold you the Mach4 to request the update. If you have a newer
license issued by MachSupport directly, or by a reseller that issued you
a "coupon" so you could set up your own account, then you can
update the license yourself using the MachSupport web site.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 Lock

You can manually edit the Machine.ini file for that profile.

Find the line with   OpLock=1   and change it to   OpLock=0

Making a safety copy of the file before editing by hand is recommended.

There is a way to set up an angle sensitive slow down in corners. You
can access it from the tab for Wizards at the top of the screen. Select
the "CV_Feedrate" from the resulting drop down window. There was a
description of how to use it here on the forum, but alas, search is not
currently working.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 Restrictions when unlicensed
« on: November 18, 2018, 09:03:28 AM »
Demo mode does not restrict you to only one motor. It it highly
unlikely that you have a hardware failure that causes this type
of symptom. Look carefully at your Axis mapping and motor
configurations.
