General Mach Discussion / Shape size correction
« on: July 27, 2010, 01:44:59 PM »
Is there an easy way to compensate for inaccurate sizes of pockets and profiles that I cut out? I have noticed if I cut a pocket 1" in diameter, it comes out slightly smaller when I measure it. Just the opposite happens when cutting profiles. Is this a Mach problem, or is it my cam program? Please help if you can. Thank You.

General Mach Discussion / corners have radius at higher cut speed
« on: July 22, 2010, 09:31:49 AM »
I am having trouble cutting sharp corners at speeds over approx. 10 IPM. If I go faster than that, the corners start to round. If I slow down, it returns to proper cutting. I would cut slower, but it is a pain if I have long strait runs in the same program. I hate having to continuously keep changing my cut speeds. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!

Does anyone have any info on etching glass on a wood router? I was possibly thinking of trying it for kicks.

General Mach Discussion / Re: worm gear cad design
« on: June 21, 2010, 06:20:33 AM »
Thanks Sterling. I'm soon finding out this is going to be way over my head.(logarithms and such). Maybe after I study more on writing code I will try what you are talking about in your example. Thank you anyway. Do you have any good suggestions on where to start for a noob wanting to learn g-code basics?

General Mach Discussion / worm gear cad design
« on: June 18, 2010, 02:07:01 PM »
Does anyone know of a cad program that can be used to design a wormgear that has a gradual increase in it's pitch the longer it is. The gear I am looking to design will have a 2" diameter, and be approximately 2' long. It will have a starting pitch of about 1/4" on one end and gradually increase to about 3/4" on the other end. Any design help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...Andy.
