General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach Turn Help Needed
« on: February 01, 2011, 01:13:28 PM »
Glad you said that about the problems with soft limits. I did notice when I tried using them on my X axis,(0--2.5"), it would stop at 0-5".Good to know. Thanks again.

So Zero will be my X and Z max, and -2.5 and -9 will be my minimum in my Homing/Limits?

General Mach Discussion / Mach Turn Help Needed
« on: February 01, 2011, 11:02:41 AM »
I am just getting into mach turn and wondered if I could get some help on my set up. I have a Taig lathe. I have 9" of travel on my Z axis and 2.5" of movement on my X axis. I am having a problem with my Homing/Limits entries. I am not sure of what needs to be entered in as far as neg. and pos. values. Also where my "zero" point should be in relation to the lathe. I have a cnc router that I understand, but this I am having trouble Wrapping my head around. On my router, my Z axis is the opposite of my X and X axis's. Is this true with my lathe? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

General Mach Discussion / Re: TTL signal
« on: January 04, 2011, 08:20:25 AM »
I would like to go with the small circuit due to the fact that I just bought a breakout board that does not have the 5v output. Is there a specific chip that you would recommend. I looked up schmitt trigger and found many variations of circuits, but not sure of the right one. I REALLY don't want to fry my computer in the process of figuring this out. Thanks again.

General Mach Discussion / TTL signal
« on: January 04, 2011, 07:02:58 AM »
I am trying to set up my laser to do some wood burning. My laser driver requires a 5v signal to fire the TTL. I tested the voltage on pins 7(+5v), and one of my ground pins (18-25) and all I get is +2.8v to +3.0v. My laser is not coming on so I think this is the cause. Any suggestions?Thank You.

Tangent Corner / Re: 3D carving

I am using artcam Pro 9. I am afraid I am not very fluent with it yet. It looks like it can do quite a few things!

I know this doesn't relate to Mach, but does anyone know what is the best bit for V-carving. I have a home built router I cut wood on and am not sure what is the best bit to use for detail. My router only has a 1/4" collete. Any suggestions on where to buy cheap ones at?

General Mach Discussion / 4th axis setup cheat sheet
« on: October 20, 2010, 06:50:32 AM »
Is there a setup sheet I can use to set up a 4th axis that I built. I am confused on units and how to configure Mach. Are they in degrees? Not really sure on all of the boxes to check in the configuration section. My stepper motor has 40 rotations for every 1 rotation on my axis chuck. I am using a G540 drive so it is in microsteps...I think? Therefor I am not sure of how many steps per inch I should put in the motor tuning section....HELP

I downloaded Adobe flash player 10.1, installed it, and the same thing happens.

General Mach Discussion / OpenGL error for lazycam and lazyturn
« on: July 28, 2010, 06:29:25 AM »
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but every time I try to use either Lazycam or Lazyturn, I get the OpenGL error. I updated my video card drivers to the latest version, and installed the 2.0 .NET framework fro Microsoft. I don't have the licensed versions yet, but dont want to purchase them if I can't use them on my computer. I have a 16MB ATI rage 128 ultra. Im not sure if that is too old for this application, or if I have other issues. Thank You.
