Mach4 General Discussion / Re: trouble with rotary axis tool path
« on: July 09, 2023, 03:47:37 PM »
I have it  to rotate around Y because i am wrapping my X axis around the Y axis.  I upgraded to V carve pro 11.5 and did not bring my post processors in from version 10.5 hopping it was a post processor problem, but no luck.  I am attaching some better pictures.  After I post from V carve and bring it into Mach 4  the Z axis in the picture in Mach 4 is inverted.  Like mirror image.  Is this a bug in Mach 4.  Should I upgrade my Mach 4  :-\.
thanks for any help.

running on windows 10
Mach 4.2.0.4612

Hi Bill,
I have not had a chance to run it with wood.  However after looking over the g code I believe it may run OK.  I think it may just be a display problem.
But looking at the tool path tab it has Min Z of -3.0155.  my stock is a 3 inch cyder.  But searching the G code I do not find any Z less than Z-1.0
I am thinking it might be a bug in the software.

Todd

Mach4 General Discussion / trouble with rotary axis tool path
« on: July 04, 2023, 09:18:04 AM »
Hello,
I  am having a problem bringing a rotary from from V carve pro into mach 4.  The tool path looks fine in V Carve.  When it comes into Mach 4 it is not correct.  It is stocky and has a pentagon like tool path in it.  Not sure if the is a mach4 setting I have wrong or something in V carve post processor.  Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Todd

Thanks Tom.
I have always been curious where that PC ID comes from. Is it part of Window 10?  Anyways I was able to get the new license and am up an running.
The jogging thing I would think is a safety issue and they would want to fix it.  I guess not. I also often use the Imach pendent mostly.
Thanks again,
Todd

Ok, I upgraded to 4612.  a couple questions now.  I cloned my hard drive before upgrading and  put a larger SSD in my pc.  would that change my PC ID?
Second question.  I was hoping the upgrade would solve a problem or feature I do not like.  if I enable keyboard jogging when I switch to other applications like V carve pro when I move items in V carve my machine also moves.  I would think if Mach was not the active application  it should not see the arrow key movement in V carve.  I have to very careful to disable  keyboard input before I switch over to V carve.  Is all that normal?
Thanks,
Todd

Mach4 General Discussion / Upgrade from 4.2.0.3804 to 4.2.0.4517 with ESS
« on: February 22, 2021, 12:49:19 PM »
Hello,
I guess it is time for me to upgrade to a newer version of Mach4.  My  system uses and ESS and has a spindle controlled by Mod bus. I will be going from Mach4 version 4.2.0.3804 with ESS 232 to I believe Mach4 build 4517 with ESS 270 is the latest.  Is it as simple a installing the new software over the old version?  I some how do not think so.  Is there some information on how to perform this upgrade?
Thanks,
Todd

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: help! lost in space

I think it is my A axis causing my problems.  My A axis does not have a home position so when I ref all it does not zero, I have to click the bottom to zero it.  If I do not when I press the go to work zero it rotates my whole job to get A to zero. This all happen even with out this being a rotary job.  How would I tell the software to zero the A axis when I ref all?  There is no zero switch it would say where it is is zero.
Thanks,
Todd

A little more detail.  If I close the Mach 4 do not power down my machine or PC and reopen Mach 4 and Open my g-code it looks fine.  I then reference all axis fine. But when I hit the go to work zero my display goes funky. It kike rotates the part.  I have had this problem before.  Any Ideas?  should I update?
Thanks,
Todd

Mach4 General Discussion / help! lost in space

Getting back to Mach 4 after some time off.  Simple project is cut some shapes out .5 inch plywood.  The tool paths in V carve pro look fine and simulate fine.  when I load them in to Mach 4 the display does not look right.  This is just cutting out a circle about 3.5 inches in diameter. The display looks tilted at an angle.  Is there some setting in mach 4 that I messed up?   I am running version 4.2.0.3084  should I upgrade to the newest version? install the latest will it keep all my current setting and such and just install over the old version?
Thanks for any help.
