Mach4 General Discussion / Linux support
« on: March 22, 2020, 02:59:56 PM »
Was reading through some Mach4 documentation and saw a reference to Linux. Any idea if or when we might see a Linux version?

thanks

I have a problem with a Gecko 540 and a WJ200-022SF. After going through the manual I determined that the WJ200 doesn't recognize PWM input to control it. It does however recognize pulse train inputs. "The WJ200 inverter is capable of accepting pulse train input signals, that are used for frequency command, process variable (feedback) for PID control, and simple positioning.
The dedicated terminal is called “EA” and “EB”. Terminal “EA” is a dedicated terminal." pg40 WJ200 quick ref. manual.
I have not been able to figure out what the signal has to look like or how to configure Mach4 how to deliver it through a pmdx411 and a gecko 540. If anyone has done this or knows how I would really appreciate if you would share what you did.

thanks

Newfangled Mill Wizard / Turn wizard / Linux
« on: April 24, 2015, 12:00:03 PM »
I understand from reading various posts and replies on Mach3 andMach4 boards that wizards for mach4 will be standalone like the NFS Mill wizard.

Will there also be a turn wizard for mach4?

Will the Mach4 wizards run under Linux?

I am finding that Windows contributes greatly to the intermittent, unrepeatable quirks that I experience in both Mach3 and Mach4

Mach4 General Discussion / USB Smooth Stepper & Mach 4
« on: February 03, 2015, 01:43:20 PM »
I have not seen or heard anything about the USB smooth stepper being supported under Mach4 and what features that will be supported.
Since parallel port support is limited to older machines and 32bit architecture I am looking for a supported Mach4 USB motion controller.
If anyone has experience with alternatives I would be interested in your conclusions.

Thanks

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach4 in WINE
« on: June 01, 2014, 12:45:22 PM »
I tried the first demo release of Mach4 (1723) in the WINE environment under Opensuse 13.1. A pretty fair ammount of the program worked as advertised. I upgraded to the 1767 version which hung my system. I realize that this isn't and shouldn't be a priority since Brian has said there will be a Linux version in the future. If anyone has any suggestions on how to run this under WINE it would help get rid of our dependence on Windows and the various versions and their associated problems
