Mach4 General Discussion / Hook up Schematic help
« on: August 05, 2019, 04:02:48 PM »
I'm sorry to be a bore here but I want to get it correct.
I have ripped my control box out and now will replace it with the following bits.

Warp9 ESS Smoothstepper
My existing C11 Multifunction BOB (I want to retain this because it has 2 built in electromechanical relays and PWM Support)
A new C10S BOB (I want to add this because of the increased i/o capacity)

Question is, how to hook them all up together. A wee schematic would be very helpful.

Thanks

Thanks Craig, I do believe the card is a duffer.

I did not realise that I should not be connected to the internet when mach4 is running.

I thought I read somewhere that it was ok if the Smoothstepper was on it's own card, maybe I misunderstood it.

Anyway, I'm at the cofig ins and outs now so the ess is installed ok.
I''l take your advice and leave it now as it is.

Thanks

George

Mach4 General Discussion / No Pings from my Smoothstepper.
« on: August 04, 2019, 01:17:32 PM »
On my PC I installed a Netgear311(C1) network card.
This card I used to connect my Smoothstepper to whilst the PC onboard Ethernet network is used to connect my PC to the Internet.
That's the theory anyway.

I found that I could not ping the Smoothstepper with this configuration.
I removed the Netgear card and plugged the smoothstepper into my PC's network port and managed to ping my smoothstepper and I'm now at the MAch4 configure ports and pins etc.
This looks really daunting but I'll have to go slowly.

So all looks well except that now I will not be able to connect to the internet!!!!  I think the Netgear card is a duffer because I switched my cables around and tried to access yhe inter whilst connected to this card!!!

So!! where do I go from here ??  Help please.  ( I am learning (Promise))

Thanks Craig, all set up now!
Now I am ready to connect my Warp9 ESS.
I have opted to stay with my C11 board and will maybe add an addition Break out Board for the extra i/o's
Am I correct in saying I can copy all my motor ports and pins from Mach3 and add them in to my Mach4 setup ?

While you are on with mach4 not installing

If you have win 10 N the last two dev releases industrial or hobby will fail with missing mfplat.dll after contact with James it’s a windoze problem . You will need to dl and install the media feature pack from MS it seems that newfangled have put in place the ability to have a vidieo window
Looks Like C++ redistributable 2015 install was missing from my machine so I downloaded it from Microsoft and when installed all was fine.  My machine is now Windows 7 with a liscened Mach4 hobby installed. Thanks for the help....

Hi,
latch onto the nearest Win7,8,10 PC or laptop you can, download Mach4 just in demo and see if it runs,
i suspect it will whjich rather points to XP being too old.

Craig
Sorted, thanks

Thanks team, now having bought a new Mach9 ESS, a new breakout board and an additional Ethernet card along with an uprated power supply, not to mention 50Mtrs of Cat6 Cable to connect my workshop to my home PC I find that my Windows is too old!!!!!  Sheesh, Will it end ??

Seriously,  thank you all for your help.

Demo version is loaded on my House PC  Windows 10Pro and demo runs fine.
So here's the if I share the PC's which they are, can I run Mach4 hobby from my house PC in my workshop,??    Hmmmm, just a thought!!!!
