Modbus / Re: Mitsibushi FR-D720S setup help needed.

have you got a manual

Yep, I have the standard 300page manual :-)
If its just a simple matter of hooking up the 0-10v then thats fine!
I have manage to get the inverter running in 'stand alone mode' and I'm able to control the speed of the spindle with the wee thumbwheel.
I was a bit worried of cooking the spindle at first because it was running hot, very hot. But once I found that I had to set the base frequency to 400HZ it was fine.
My chinese spindle drive (HY) dropped a phase so I thought I would buy a better quality unit. I hope I've made the right decision.

So far I have set the following parameters.

0=4
1=50 Min frequency
2=400 Max frequency
3=400 Base frequency
4=400 Multi speed setting high
5=200 Multi speed setting mid
6=100 multi speed setting low
18=400 Hi speed max frequency
79=1 operation mode fixed to 'PU'

I havent messed with any other parameters for now as the spindle seems to be running fine.

My only issue is that my cheapy Chines inverter had a 5 digit display and did show the spindle speed nicely. The display on the new inverter is only 4 digit and dispays frequency only.

Given that the 400hz spindle is rated at 220v 3Phase 400Hz 24,000rpm am I correct in assuming that with 200HZ set on the inverter drive that the spindle is running at half spped i.e. 12000rpm

And of course that 5volt would also give 12,000 rpm.

Has anyone interfaced the Mitsibushi FR-D720S-0.75 Inverter Drive with Mach 3.
Do I need Modbus ?

Thanks

Thanks Gerry,

Looks like my board is Rev8 . No jumpers like you suggest.
Also shows a Pullup to 5v with a 200 ohm Resistor.
I'll try it but I dont want to blow my board.

Thanks Gerry.

Wow that thread is long.!

I have a C11 breakout board from CNC4PC. Been running it for quite some time with no problems.

I just wired in the touch plate to pin 15 and set it active low.

The documentation for the board is confusing. One say use a 10K pull up to 5V another says use a 200Ohm pull up and anothr shows no pull up at all.

Do I need a pull up. Right now it does not work under mach3 using the diagnostic screen or the auto setup routine.

Board ground is a little unclear also.

You don't need to use a DRO if the plate thickness isn't changing. Just code the script to use a 5mm thickness.
Thanks Gerry,
My machine is setup to use MM (Metric)
You got a code example please or point me.
Thanks

I'd like to use pin 13 on my C11 multifunction board for the input of my touch plate.
My touch plate is 5mm thick
I understand how to edit the Button Script.

I need a code & routine to insert the plate thickness.

I'm getting confused with 'inputing the plte thickness' into a DRO

Anyone clear this up for me please.

General Mach Discussion / Axis not reffed

I'm not sure if I'm in the correct area here but maybe someone can help me.
My screen shows "AXIS NOT REFFED TO NORMALL CONDITIONS'

I have inductive proximity switches on all 3 axis. (but only at one end) They work fine. I can home and ref to them all no problem. I'm just not sure what the error message means.

My machine works fine and has been for quite some time. Clearly I have something in my setup wrong.

Thanks in advance.

George

I'm looking for a Supermarine Spitfire Psuedo 3d to carve into wood. Anyone help me out?

Plaque will be approx 10" x 6" and have some text on it. Hopefully I can port it into Vcarve pro to complete the job.
