General Mach Discussion / No shuttle detected of type selected

Never had an issue before, but went to use my machine this morning and I have no physical movement of any axis. DRO's respond to keypressess.
I get the message 'No shuttle detected of type selected'
Did I do something with my configuration ?

Screen designer tips and tutorials / Screen4 clunky

I downloaded and ran Screen4. It's very clunky, freezes and refuses to respond often. Almost unusable. (I did set the default directory to point to MAch3 folder)
I'm using Vista, anybody else have these issues?

My other PC which I run XP on runs fine ??

Hopefully someone can help.

General Mach Discussion / Adding buttons for Scripts

I've just added a laser cross hair to my router table.
The center of the cross image offset from the center of my spindle is -52.79mm in X and -0.375 in Y.

So I must add a Button and as assign a script to it.

Any guidance would be appreciated, I use the standard Mach3 screen and have not messed with it yet.

General Mach Discussion / Gear cutting. Shaper motion

Has anyone used their gantry with a 'fixed' preformed tool to cut gear wheels. Much like a shaper machine.
I have some involute gear cutters but they are far too big for my spindle. I thought I could afix a special shaped tool to my gantry and use back/forward (shaper) motion to cut my gear. The part would be rotated on my 4th axis at the required incremental degrees.

General Mach Discussion / Need help with my new 4th Axis

I've been using Mach3 for a few years now. I have a 3 axis router. I  decided to make myself a 4th Axis (A) (rotational) got a nice 4 inch 3 jaw chuck on it.
I have done the basic configuration by selecting ports and pins (I us the CNC4PC board)
It runs fine (CW & CCW) on my jog keys that I have set up but I don't know how to set it up yet. It has a 6:1 step down. Need some basic help please.

I do not have any limit or home switches on this new axis (not sure if I need them)

Modbus / Spindle Tacho Dro for CNC4PC

Using a CNC4PC i/o board and a Mitsibushi Fr-D720S inverter with a 400hz spindle motor,
Can anyone point me in the right direction if they have added a tacho to the chinese spindles to give an acurate readout of spindle RPM on a DRO.
Do I need modbus? smoothstepper? etc

General Mach Discussion / Tool zero with touch

I'd like to use pin 13 on my C11 multifunction board for the input of my touch plate.
My touch plate is 5mm thick
I understand how to edit the Button Script.

I need a code & routine to insert the plate thickness.

I'm getting confused with 'inputing the plte thickness' into a DRO

Anyone clear this up for me please.

General Mach Discussion / Axis not reffed

I'm not sure if I'm in the correct area here but maybe someone can help me.
My screen shows "AXIS NOT REFFED TO NORMALL CONDITIONS'

I have inductive proximity switches on all 3 axis. (but only at one end) They work fine. I can home and ref to them all no problem. I'm just not sure what the error message means.

My machine works fine and has been for quite some time. Clearly I have something in my setup wrong.

I'm looking for a Supermarine Spitfire Psuedo 3d to carve into wood. Anyone help me out?

Plaque will be approx 10" x 6" and have some text on it. Hopefully I can port it into Vcarve pro to complete the job.
