Found a small bug in the 6 axis screenset.  The "zero C" button does not function.

Otherwise, looks great!

As you'll see I got lazy and didn't finish it all, most of it is done though, I'd like to make sure most of it works before I change some of the other pages around.
Let me know your thoughts or ideas and maybe I can implement them.
Im sure you are all aware to copy the folder into Mach3\Bitmaps and the 6 axis screen into \Mach3.

I made it 6 axis, because it's easier to remove a couple of axis than it is to add them.

The digitizing wizard (both the 3 axis and 4 axis version) use the G31 command.

I've built an axillary high speed Z axis that is belt driven and is dedicated to my touch probe.

The problem I'm having is I still can't get any speed out of the scanning process because the scanning routine stops and pauses for at least a full second before it retracts the probe and moves to the next position.

Anyway to get a shorter pause period?  Also noticed the probe moves much faster on retract than it does on the way down. I'd like to change these values as well.

Any help greatly appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Delay in Digitizing Wizard?
« on: August 25, 2010, 10:29:58 AM »
Any way to change the amount of time the probe sits on the object being digitized before calling for a Z up command.

The digitizing wizard pauses for about .5 second on each point. Sounds like a small amount of time but it really adds up.

Any way around this?

Thanks, Larry

General Mach Discussion / Re: Basic question about Digitizing

Is there an updated dll for the digitizing Wizard (not the plugin) ?

My issue with the wizard is the 1/2 second pause between the probe touching the subject and the time it takes to retract the probe.

I'm using a touch probe and running the digitizing wizard. I went into config/ mill options and put a check in the box to have Mach put the axis letters in the output code.

Only problem, Seems the latest version of Mach 3 adds the letters in lower case.

My cam program ignores lower case letters as commands etc.

I can change them with a word processor but is there another way?

Thanks, L

Where might I find another probing routine. (other then the painfully slow "bed of nails" method)?

General Mach Discussion / Mach Plugin problems

I'm having a terrible time trying to get the mach plugin to work. (not the wizard)   :(

I get a "Previous SEQ not yet complete error" as soon as I start the probing routine.

Somewhere else here I saw a post about the plugin not working with the newer versions of mach?

I'm using the Smooth Stepper so I can't go back to Mach 2

Any solution here?

This machine is getting heavy.  I'd estimate it at 3000 lbs as it sits.  It only gets bigger and heavier from here..  :)

Not sure what software I will use. Currently using BobCad/CAM V 21 but it does not support 5 axis.

Maybe Mastercam will come out with a full featured hobby version for less then $100???  Holding Breath...

Bearings and rails took an hour of so going back and forth with a run out gauge to make sure they are dead on parallel.  Once done they are tightened down and I'm moving to position the ball screw.  After a lot of thought I went with a somewhat unorthodox design for the Deep Z axis.  Rather then run the screw done the center I opted instead to run it to the side. This allows me to keep the two load bearing members as close together as possible.  Considering the stout constuction of this axis due to its unusual reach I see no problem with mounting the screw off center.  It's got a 19 inch inch Z travel.  ;D
